Activities at Wadhurst Manor Care Home

On a weekly basis we have many visitors to the home from the people like the University of the Third age and local small animal farms, who bring in their chickens and sheep. We also like to go out shopping and on day trips to local garden centres and when the weather is good picnics and tours of the beautiful local countryside. We have speciality days at the home which could be a theme of a country, or for specific times of year, including Halloween, Bonfire Night or Christmas. We have card games and art classes and a serious knitting team in the home who produce blankets and premature baby clothes for the local maternity unit.

Zoe Aldea

Activities Lead

Hi, my name is Zoe and I am the Activities Lead at Wadhurst Manor.

I used to work with veterans for the Royal British Legion, and as an Art Studio Lead for a wonderful charity that built a village for people with learning disabilities.

I believe in the healing power of art, I feel strongly about building confidence and  the wellness of our residents. My hobbies include Asian art and philosophy, acupuncture, yoga and martial arts. I believe art is a bridge that unites everyone no matter the race, beliefs or religion.

Life at Wadhurst Manor Care Home

Marco the Magician

Residents had a wonderful trip down memory lane with Marco the Magician and his Seaside Show, which included magic, singing, comedy and a Punch & Judy show. Nearly everyone got involved with the singing, helping with magic tricks and having their photos taken in the photo booths.

It really was a wonderful afternoon, with several residents commenting on how good he was. The highlight of the show was Tom the rabbit, who behaved impeccably as everyone stroked him. He even paid a few visits to residents' rooms for a cuddle.

Guitar Guru

Jon McDevitt returned to entertain residents with his singing, guitar skills and ukulele abilities. Everyone joined in singing, clapping and even dancing for a very enjoyable afternoon.

Our PAT Dog

Residents enjoyed an afternoon with Ronnie, our home dog. Ronnie was a little anxious at first, but after a while, he loved the attention and all the cuddles, which led to lots of reminiscing about past pets.

Volleyball with Volunteers

Volleyball with Volunteers

Freddie and Jude, who are currently volunteering as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Award, played beach ball volleyball with residents. Even those who did not originally want to join in got involved and became very competitive.

Care Home Open Day

A wonderful time was had by all as we opened our door to friends, loved ones and visitors for Care Home Open Day. Our 1950s party was a great success, with lovely food, hilarious fancy dress and an amazing show by Debonnaire Entertainment

A resident's wife donated this sensory blanket that she made herself - and residents seem to really like it!
