Activities at Wadhurst Manor Care Home
On a weekly basis we have many visitors to the home from the people like the University of the Third age and local small animal farms, who bring in their chickens and sheep. We also like to go out shopping and on day trips to local garden centres and when the weather is good picnics and tours of the beautiful local countryside. We have speciality days at the home which could be a theme of a country, or for specific times of year, including Halloween, Bonfire Night or Christmas. We have card games and art classes and a serious knitting team in the home who produce blankets and premature baby clothes for the local maternity unit.
Zoe Aldea
Hi, my name is Zoe and I am the Activities Lead at Wadhurst Manor.
I used to work with veterans for the Royal British Legion, and as an Art Studio Lead for a wonderful charity that built a village for people with learning disabilities.
I believe in the healing power of art, I feel strongly about building confidence and the wellness of our residents. My hobbies include Asian art and philosophy, acupuncture, yoga and martial arts. I believe art is a bridge that unites everyone no matter the race, beliefs or religion.

Life at Wadhurst Manor Care Home
The Wadhurst Olympics
On the 15th of September, Wadhurst Manor prepared for their very own Olympics, starring very enthusiastic residents who were playing to win, win, win! The Olympians gathered in the Wadhurst Grounds with light refreshments to commence battle.
Basketball
In the basketball event, Joy didn’t miss a shot, and it quickly became obvious that she would be the winner. Close behind was Gerald, who was enthusiastic and keen as mustard! Joan Fowle, a determined player with impaired eyesight, also gave it her all.
Volleyball
Joy couldn’t contain herself and her espree delivered another first! Joan Watson giggled her way to second place and couldn’t believe it! Joan Fowle, Hot on their heels delivered and excellent third place.
Hoopla
Gerald and Jim had to do something for the boys. Gerald, coasted to victory, determined and enjoying himself immensely. Joan Watson also tied with Gerald and convinced us all that it was “sherry o’clock!”
Wadhurst Manor gives a warm thank you to all the participants, including Derek, Jean, Rosemary, Eva and Rai.
Our Fake Wedding Rehearsal
When we heard that one of our lovely Carers was getting married, General Manager, Georgina Gamble, decided we should have a fake rehearsal at Wadhurst Manor.
The bride-to-be borrowed a dress and we asked a resident to play the groom. Georgina was the Vicar and officiated with some fun vows. The congregation was made up of residents and staff. The pianist played the Wedding March for the wedding party and the wedding cake and bubbly followed. What a great afternoon it was!
A Trip to Bewl Water
Our activities team took advantage of some good weather and took the residents on a trip in our mini bus to Bewl Water. Of course, tea and cake were involved as well.
Employee of the Month
Lavinia was voted Employee of the Month for June by her peers. Well done, Lavinia!
Vi's Birthday - 103 Years Young
The lovely Violet celebrated her 103rd birthday with a gorgeous cake made especially to her liking by our Chef. Happy birthday, Vi - and here's to many more!
Care Home Open Day
Wadhurst Manor's theme for this year's Care Home Open Day was a 'Street Party in Celebration of our Queen's 90th Birthday.'
