Activities at Werrington Lodge Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Pub Lunch

We ventured out to the Crab and Winkle for a bite to eat. Our residents love this outing, especially being able to have a change of scenery.

We appeared to have stuck to pub classics, including Scampi and Chips, and Lasagne.

We received amazing service by the Assistant Manager, which is especially important when taking our residents out. She was kind, gentle and patient. One of our residents spent time helping clear the plates and pile them together for her, and she patiently stood by and thanked him for helping her.

Sunshine and Smiles

At Werrington Lodge Care Home, we took advantage of the Wonderful Weather. With sun cream on, some of our residents ventured out into the garden.

Some of our residents were accompanied by their friends and family, who we encourage to join in with our activities with us.

Our residents started by talking amongst themselves whilst everyone was supported in transferring outside. Topics of conversation included: Burghley Horse Trials, previous holidays and the change in weather.

We then spent time having a game of Eye Spy, with the change of scenery outdoors working to our advantage, having previously played this in the Kingfisher Lounge and Activities Hub.

Peterborough United

POSH visit us bi-weekly, putting on a session for seated exercises with our residents.

This is always looked forward to, and a great way to support our Life-Enrichment Programme by promoting social inclusion.

54th Wedding Anniversary

Today marked the 54th Wedding Anniversary of our wonderful resident Barbara, and her husband Ken.

We congratulated them on this milestone, and supplied them with a bouquet of flowers and a gift. They have had a lovely afternoon together today, and were very thankful, with smiles all round.

Movement to Music

Gathering in a circle, we had some Elvis Presley music on in the background, whilst we did some gentle seated exercises. Stretching our arms, wiggling our fingers and shimmying along to the music, our residents really enjoyed themselves. We also had a request to do this more regularly!

Scrabble Club

We had a change of scenery this morning, sitting in our Reception area to play a game of Scrabble.

This game went down very well, as it really got our residents thinking. We had to have a dictionary on hand as we stopped being able to think clearly of what is and isn't a word!

One of our residents managed to overcome having very difficult letter tiles, and superseded her fellow players to take the lead and win. She gained our highest play score which was 42, using the help of a double word score.
