Activities at White Lodge Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators here at White Lodge enjoy the fulfillment of helping residents feel important and a part of something. Meaningful moments are created through laughter and comfort. A varied activities programme is offered for the betterment of residents' bodies and minds, including music for health, 'Oomph' sessions and chair Zumba, in addition to coffee and cake groups that all inevitably lead to giggles and old fashioned singalongs. Also, we organise parties, trips out, walks in the country, bus outings and wonderful entertainers to visit our home. A sneaky tipple is always welcomed with cheese and crackers and, at the end of the day, it is important to go home knowing our activities have made a difference.

Residents Create Christmas Wreaths for Competition

As part of Barchester's varied Life Enrichment Programme White Lodge residents recently enjoyed a live virtual demonstration from Blooming Haus – Floral Engineers Christmas wreath making.

Further to the event residents had until next week to make their wreaths and enter a competition to be judged by the experts from Blooming Haus, so Friday they all set to work creating stunning wreaths from some purchased items, but mainly from items from our stunning grounds.

As it was Christmas Jumper Day we all agreed it could not have been more festive, getting us really in the mood for Christmas. The wreaths look stunning on display.

Smells of Christmas!

How has November flown by so quickly?! As we all get our advent calendars ready for tomorrow, White Lodge residents continued with our preparations for Christmas. There was chopping, whisking, stirring and folding to make our Christmas cake. Joan wanted to lick the spoon! The smell in the activities room was amazing.

Visit to Cricklade Open Door

White Lodge would like to thank Cricklade Open Door for such a warm welcome today. We took along a few residents so they could meet with those who regularly attend this wonderful charity which offers a luncheon club along with fun, friendship and support to those living in the area. Whilst enjoying a cup of tea we all chatted including to the very talented knitters who are making scarves for a local charity. It was great to see so many people able to meet up and we very much look forward to visiting again in the New Year. The White Lodge chefs made cupcakes which we took along for everyone to enjoy, as well as some goodie bags .

Squirrel Watching!

Archie spent time visiting residents in their rooms today, we all love his visits. He is a perfect therapy dog, kind, gentle and intuative. Today he did however get a little distracted by a squirrel! What cute photos of him looking out of the window!

Winter Planting with Leaf Kicking!

Today was cold, but it was fresh and bright with a beautiful blue sky so we planted up our winter plants in the pots and borders. They really are looking lovely and it is great to have splashes of colour to the front of the home. While Carl was working hard sweeping the leaves up, the naughty elf (otherwise known as Tina) was encouraging the ladies to kick about in them and what fun they had!
