Activities at Woodside House

Our activities team deliver a wide variety of mentally and physically stimulating activities and events for those we support, including coffee afternoons, which we hold every month for the local community, regular outings in our minibus, and visits from entertainers and musicians. Monthly resident meetings help us to ensure that those living here are getting the most out of our activities programme, and that our social events reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible. From growing our own vegetables to making giant paper-mâché animals, there is always something fun going on at Woodside House.

Sam Lake

Activities Coordinator

My name is Sam and I lead our Activities Team at Woodside House.

I have been at Woodside House since 2004 and I love it here. I am responsible for ensuring that the residents are able to participate in sociable, fun and rewarding activities. My team and I are very passionate about our work and love putting smiles on the residents' faces.

We involve the residents in the planning of our activity calendars and encourage residents to continue with the hobbies that they have enjoyed throughout their lives. We will support every resident to try new things and we love learning from our residents every day.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Norfolk Military

Here at Woodside, we welcome our visits from Norfolk Military Vehicles.

The weather held out for us to have a good look round the vehicles and also chat with the vehicle enthusiasts.

The vehicles are all in such good condition and really well looked after, they're so beautiful to see.

The owners of the vehicles brought their dogs too, which is always a bonus for lots of our animal loving residents.

We thanked them by offering them tea, coffee and delicious cake!

International Cat Day

For international cat day we held a cat themed quiz and made some cat toys . we are hoping to be able to donate these to our local charity. Our resident really got stuck in this and even a family member drop in to help support us this activities really help support our resident  to feel a sense of purpose.

Ship Ahoy here at woodside

On Friday we went on our first cruise along the broads with Waveney stardust . We laughed all day and waved to every one that passed us . we enjoyed a lovely picnic and the crew took very good care of us and made us lots of tea.

We are looking forward to our return trip in the coming weeks.

Supporting our Creativity

We've been enjoying the opportunity to develop a wider range of skills by getting crafty! Arts and Crafts activities are very popular with residents here at Woodside House. We've designed and decorated our own pots and set a little plant in them too!
