Activities at Woodside House Care Home

Activities at Woodside House

Our activities team deliver a wide variety of mentally and physically stimulating activities and events for those we support, including coffee afternoons, which we hold every month for the local community, regular outings in our minibus, and visits from entertainers and musicians. Monthly resident meetings help us to ensure that those living here are getting the most out of our activities programme, and that our social events reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible. From growing our own vegetables to making giant paper-mâché animals, there is always something fun going on at Woodside House.

Sam Lake

Activities Coordinator

My name is Sam and I lead our Activities Team at Woodside House.

I have been at Woodside House since 2004 and I love it here. I am responsible for ensuring that the residents are able to participate in sociable, fun and rewarding activities. My team and I are very passionate about our work and love putting smiles on the residents' faces.

We involve the residents in the planning of our activity calendars and encourage residents to continue with the hobbies that they have enjoyed throughout their lives. We will support every resident to try new things and we love learning from our residents every day.

Happy Valentines Day

The day started with Elvis handing roses to all the ladies throughout the home, before singing for us.

Tables were set at lunch looking beautiful, with special tables set for couples to have an intimate dinner for two.

The afternoon was filled with dancing, a little fizz and delicious sweet treats.

While a couple of the staff headed out surprising the public with wrapped single roses ! Those lucky people were most surprised explaining "they had made their day

Christmas Light Switch On with a special visitor

Woodside House decided to elect their own ‘famous’ person for our light switch on this year.  Mayor Miriam has visited Barchester’s Woodside House in Norwich to carry out the ‘great Christmas light switch on’.

Miriam (also known as Ann, whose husband lives at Woodside House) joined residents of the home for the event on 1st December 2023. Celebrations included joining residents and staff touring the home lighting up each area in turn.  The residents joined in the countdown and cheered as each area of the home was beautifully illuminated.  Mayor Miriam then went around the home visiting residents who were unable to come out of their rooms to wish them a merry Christmas.

Mayor Miriam gave a short speech thanking all staff and residents for joining in and having such fun before wishing everyone a merry Christmas.
