Activities at Alice Grange Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Penny Allen

Lead Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Penny and I am the Lead Activities Coordinator here at Alice Grange.

I have many years of experience working in care homes in Activities, leisure and lifestyle roles.

I love being part of the Alice Grange team and supporting our residents to live their best lives with fun, interesting, and varied activities available every week. I always feel that the residents' input into our weekly planner is important as it gives all residents equal opportunity to explore new interests as well as keeping up with previous passions and hobbies.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Indian Independence day

At Alice Grange we celebrate and respect all cultures and nationalities. On the 15th August 2023 We celebrated Indian Independence day with a sensory taste of all things spice followed by a traditional Indian themed lunch with Curry, Naan bread poppadum’s onion bhajis and samosa’s  made by our Head Chef Titus.

Staff wore badges of the Indian flag and a fun day was had by all.

One of our Nurses Rashmi who is currently on holiday in Indian and no doubt celebrating with her family left a quote on seeing our Facebook post which is nice to know that her heart also lies with Alice Grange while away.

Rashmi Quoted Wow!! At the end of the day it's all about respect for each other being human. And Alice Grange has proven that. Equality and diversity at its best.  Thank you Penny for organising .

Traction Engine

We had a mini traction engine visit us today. Our residents enjoyed an afternoon of fun and laughter. It wasn't just our residents joining in the fun, staff and visiting families took the plunge and had a ride around our gardens.

Thereafter there was a Q and A session with Kim and Stuart Hart and 10-year-old Tony answering questions from the residents.

The smell of the traction engine with its steam is what took many of our residents back to the days when there were steam engine trains.

Mystery Tour

Our mystery tour took us to Aldeburgh. Everyone had so much fun learning the history of Aldeburgh. Residents decided ice cream was on the menu - you can't go to the seaside and not have an ice cream, and you can’t beat a Mr Whippy! We all kept our ice creams close though and away from the seagulls. The residents were so surprised at how much a fine would be if you feed them!

Woodbridge Museum

Residents and staff at Alice Grange have enjoyed another trip to the Woodbridge Museum. This is such a popular venue with our residents, and has become a regular place to visit. Residents always have a great time and bring back so much new information each time we visit. We're all already looking forward to the next visit!

Elvis performs in our garden

Alice Grange welcomed back Elvis tribute Andy Ottley.

Our residents really enjoy inviting their family and friends to join us when we have visiting entertainers to the home.

All residents joined in dancing and singing along to the hits of the king of rock and roll.
