Activities at Arbour Court Care Home
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a variety of activities and events for all residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus, visits from entertainers and musicians and small group and individual activities in quiet yet stimulating environments. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect resident individual interests as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.
Aimee Pickford
Hi, my name is Aimee and I'm the Activities Co-ordinator & Dementia Champion here at Arbour Court. In 2019 I received my Level 3 Health and Social Care and decided I wanted to help and enrich the lives of others.
I started working at Arbour Court in January 2021 as a Care Assistant and progressed to be a Senior Carer. In October 2023 I moved onto the activities team as an Activities Team Leader. I love my role as one of our homes Activities Co-ordinators and love to find new and exciting ways to engage our residents.
I am also a Dementia Champion and work closely with our General Manager, Lisa and other Dementia Champions to implement Barchester's Dementia Framework within the home.
Being part of Arbour Court's family is very rewarding and I feel lucky to work in a great environment.

Life at Arbour Court Care Home
Get Barchester Moving
Arbour Court took part in Get Barchester Moving initiative to raise money and move minuets for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation. As a home we gained over 270 hours’ worth of move minuets by having danceathons, sports day, Zumba sessions and armchair tennis for all families, residents and staff to enjoy. Barchester also raised over £600 for the charitable foundation which helps individuals and small community groups and charities across England, Scotland and Wales.
National Cocktail Day
In honour of National Cocktail day our residents loved creating, shaking and mixing their own signature cocktails by using different juices and fruits with a dash of prosecco. Some residents chose to have their cocktail soaking up the sun in our garden whilst other chose to have it with their afternoon meal.
Celebrating Chelsea Flower Show
In honour of the Chelsea Flower show our residents have created beautiful centrepieces using artificial flowers to decorate our home by displaying them in our dining room. We discussed the vibrant colours and discussed what flowers we should grow in our gardens. Our residents also enjoyed watching the flower shows on the TV and seeing all of the beautiful flowers and gardens.
Arbour Court Goes Live!
Arbour Court has moved from paper to digital care planning. Our new online system EnabLE allows staff to use hand -held technology to access our care plans and life enrichment preferences via an app.
The system will help us to improve communication and collaboration between teams. Increase accuracy of care intervention recording and become more environmentally friendly.
Digital Rainbow Table
We had an exciting new delivery, our new Digital Rainbow Table has arrived. Some of the amazing benefits of the digital table are: Music, dance and exercise using YouTube or apps like Spotify for music therapy sessions and incorporating dance and exercise videos to our resident moving. Reminiscence by Utilise Google Earth for virtual tours of resident’s favourite places or homes where they grew up, stimulating memories and conversations. The table can also be used to keep in touch with loved ones and stay connected using video calling apps like Zoom and Skype. Cognitive challenges such as Cognitive games to stimulate the mind, brain training apps, quizzes and trivia and Sensory fun using apps like magic fluids, sensory fish and fireworks, offer colourful, interactive experience that stimulate the senses.
Easter at Arbour Court
Our residents had a jam packed Easter. Our residents started off the day by receiving their Easter eggs and a card, afterwards they made gingerbread Easter egg biscuits and decorated them for our Easter Party. We had Burnie our male vocalist preform hits from the 50’s and 60’s which all of our residents enjoyed singing and dancing along.
