Activities at Arbour Court Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a variety of activities and events for all residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus, visits from entertainers and musicians and small group and individual activities in quiet yet stimulating environments. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect resident individual interests as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Aimee Pickford

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Aimee and I'm the Activities Co-ordinator & Dementia Champion here at Arbour Court. In 2019 I received my Level 3 Health and Social Care and decided I wanted to help and enrich the lives of others.

I started working at Arbour Court in January 2021 as a Care Assistant and progressed to be a Senior Carer. In October 2023 I moved onto the activities team as an Activities Team Leader. I love my role as one of our homes Activities Co-ordinators and love to find new and exciting ways to engage our residents.

I am also a Dementia Champion and work closely with our General Manager, Lisa and other Dementia Champions to implement Barchester's Dementia Framework within the home.

Being part of Arbour Court's family is very rewarding and I feel lucky to work in a great environment.

Life at Arbour Court Care Home

Australia Day

We celebrated National Australia Day by doing our own bush tucker trails. Residents, families and staff were challenged to collect 6 golden stars from our mystery boxes. These mystery boxes were filled with cold baked beans, spaghetti and soggy cereal. Everyone had so much fun getting their hands dirty and willing the golden stars.

Cheese and wine

We all look forward to getting together at Arbour Courts Social events and Cheese and Wine afternoons are no exception. Our cheese and wine afternoon keep us smiling, connected and engaged with each other!   A wonderful selection of delicious cheeses, meats and fruit were served only with different wines and sparkling drinks in the café.

Celebrating National Activity Professionals Week

On the 22nd January we celebrated National Activity Professionals Week, resident made our Activity Co-Ordinator Khadija a card. We use different craft materials much as tissue paper, feathers and textures stickers to create the card. This also provided sensory stimulation for our residents looking at the different textures and sounds some materials made. Our residents love creating cards and gifts for others.

Gardening Club

As we start to get ready for spring, we are holding our very own gardening club. We started this week with tidying the garden from fallen leaves and planted bulbs around our garden and patio area ready for the spring. Afterwards we enjoyed a cup of tea looking back on our achievement of the day.

Celebrating 25 Years of service

At Arbour Court we are celebrating Julie from our laundry service. Julie has received a prestigious 25 Year Service Award in celebration of working at Barchester Healthcare for 25 years. Julie, started at Barchester in 1998 working as a care assistant and eventually went on to work in our laundry service and has worked with residents and their relatives to ensure that their needs have been met over the years. Congratulations Julie from Residents and colleagues at Arbour Court.

Pen Pals

Residents from Arbour Court are pairing up with Hilderstone Hall, a Barchester Care Home based in Stone, Staffordshire to write to each other about their hobbies and day to day life. We hope this will give our residents a sense of belonging and common knowledge with others, to share experiences and interests.
