Activities at Ashby House Care Home

Activities at Ashby House

Our Activities Coordinators are constantly striving to enrich peoples lives here at Ashby House. We stimulate people both physically and mentally by organising fun filled, group and individual activities to promote the well-being of those we support.

There are regular outings in our very own minibus and visits from PAT dog therapists, church services, musicians, dancers, and local school children. We also have our very own 'Good Life' gardening club, where we grow our own produce, which we then use in our cooking club. We also host weekly bingo sessions which are proving very popular and are growing in numbers.

Christmas Party

It wouldn’t be Christmas without a Christmas party and our party was so much fun.
We had relatives that came along to enjoy making happy memories with their  loved ones, which is so lovely to see.
Residents enjoyed Christmas music playing that we all know and love and sang along to,  and party games to enjoy, such as toss the ring on the reindeer antlers, balloon tennis and selfie with and elfie, we then finished off our Party with a scrummy Christmas Buffet made from our fantastic kitchen team.

Jack and the Beanstalk - Christmas Pantomime

Residents, friends and families had the opportunity to come along and watch a wonderful Pantomime performed by The Carousel Theatre Company. As you can imagine there was lots of laughter from all and it also bought back so many lovely memories for our residents. It was such a great performance and some of our residents have already been asking if they can come back and do another performance for our home next Christmas.

Ashby House Christmas Fete

This year’s Christmas Fayre was a success, we had a great turn out of visitors coming with their loved ones to enjoy the fun.

We had stalls from the community selling their goodies for last minute Christmas presents and treat bags that we had made here at Ashby House to sell.

This event is so welcomed every year, a truly fun festive experience for all to enjoy!

Art Therapy

Here at Ashby House, we love to keep our residents being creative and one of the ways we do this is through art.

Some of our recent art sessions have been creating our own firework displays for our display board and painting our own poppies for our Remembrance Day display.

Armistice Day

We had a visit today from members of the Royal British Legion, they kindly came to play the 'Last Stand' for us outside our home, we had a minutes silence also to remember the fallen soldiers.

This was a moving moment for our residents.

Residents have been helping activities with making our own display, we will also be having a virtual Remembrance Day church service on Sunday.

15 years of service celebration

Today we celebrated Mariyalojana, one of our Kitchen Assistant's reaching 15 years of Service here at Ashby House.

Our General Manager, Francesca Fosu, presented Mariyalojana with a beautiful bouquet of flowers, £250 Love2shop voucher, a Long Service pin badge along with a congratulatory letter from Pete Calveley CEO of Barchester Healthcare.

Mariyalojana is a hard working member of the kitchen team, we were all very proud to celebrate and recognize her dedication and contribution to our home.
