Activities at Ashby House Care Home
Activities at Ashby House
Our Activities Coordinators are constantly striving to enrich peoples lives here at Ashby House. We stimulate people both physically and mentally by organising fun filled, group and individual activities to promote the well-being of those we support.
There are regular outings in our very own minibus and visits from PAT dog therapists, church services, musicians, dancers, and local school children. We also have our very own 'Good Life' gardening club, where we grow our own produce, which we then use in our cooking club. We also host weekly bingo sessions which are proving very popular and are growing in numbers.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Ashby House Care Home
Care Awards Divisional Winner!
Our fantastic Senior Nurse Wendy George has won Registered Nurse of the Year for the Central Division. Wendy has worked at Ashby House for many years and we are so happy and proud that she was nominated and won this great achievement!
G-Fitness
We have G-Fitness come into our home each month to do an exercise session with our residents. This is a great way for our residents to stay fit and active, and lots of fun too!
Days Out!
Our residents have been enjoying some local trips out, we have been out for pub lunches and been to local garden centres. We have so many interesting and lovely places in and near to Milton Keynes to visit, we have so many more great trips planned. It’s a lovely way for our residents to socialise and learn and experience new things and also keep up with any hobbies or interests they may have had before coming to Ashby House.
Volunteers to our home
We had Volunteers from Action 4 Youth charity that covers Milton Keynes offering children the opportunity to go on residential trips, do volunteering in their local community and help with fundraising events. The volunteers were aged 14-16yrs and they all really enjoyed helping out around our home. They looked after our garden areas, made some personalised memory boxes for our residents. They did some fundraising a few days later and very kindly bought our residents some care packs from the money that they raised.
Beach Day
This week we had a Beach themed party in our Sensory Garden. Residents and their friends and families enjoyed being able to get back into the garden areas after the heatwave at the start of the week and spending quality time together in the sunshine. We had great fun with hook a duck game, sand castles, a traditional seaside photo cut out, inflatables and silly fun sunglasses, a bucket and ball game, along with ice creams, candy floss and refreshing cool drinks.
Barchester Commonwealth Games Baton
This week some staff and resident's from Ashby House proudly took The Barchester Commonwealth Baton on its final journey to our sister home Cubbington Mill. Victor handed over the Baton to John Farrington from Cubbington Mill. John, aged 109, now has the honour of transferring the Official Commonwealth Games Baton on its 10 day final relay Countdown as it passes through Kenilworth to its final destination in Birmingham where the 2022 Commonwealth games are being held.
