Activities at Beaufort Grange Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Lucy Lock

Activities Coordinator

Hello, I am Lucy and I have worked at Beaufort Grange since 2015, starting as a care assistant I have progressed to senior care assistant and now into my role as an Activities Assistant. It's always a pleasure to keep the residents updated with community activities. What I enjoy about my job is making everyone laugh and keeping residents and staff entertained. You will often hear me singing as I walk down the corridor!

National Ice Cream day

We celebrated this National Ice Cream day making Banana Splits which we nicknamed Beauforts Banana Bliss.

Lucy, our Activity Coordinator, dressed up as an Ice Cream Confectioner, donned in her shirts, apron and little bow tie, she got a lot of compliments and laughter from residents and staff, the Bistro was decorated with balloons and foil sweets and donut balloons.

Residents took part in a scooping out ice cream, topping with cream and with a drizzle of chocolate and strawberry sauce, residents said their most favourite part was decorating the sundae with sweets and then eating it.

We had great fun for our Armed Forces Day celebrations. Thank you to Royal British Legion: Stoke Gifford and Patchway District for bringing the memorabilia, which had everyone chatting about and Thank You to Ian Boulton a labour councillor and who is also president of the Royal British Legion but for the Staple Hill district for joining us, chatting to staff and residents and the local PCSO’s for singing and dancing with the residents.

A delicious BBQ provided by the kitchen staff.

And thank you Mini Concerts for letting Nick come join us for some fabulous singing, had everyone dancing along.

Presenting a donation to Bristol Dementia Action Alliance

We got the pleasure of presenting a cheque of £1,000 from Barchester's Charitable Foundation to Tony a chair of Bristol Dementia Action Alliance they will be using this money towards their memory cafes where they get together and just have fun because, a quote from Tony, Laughter is the best medicine.

Tony even got the chance to stop and say hello to his long-time friend Malcom, a resident at Beaufort Grange, the smile on Malcom’s face was something we had to capture, and yes Tony, he still talks about your cake that you made him.

Animal Therapy

What a lovely animal visit we had from Creature Cuddles this month, where we got to meet a range of animals from rabbits, guinea pigs and dogs to a tortoise, bearded dragon and millipedes, each animal had a fuss made over them and even our brave Activity Coordinator Lucy had a try at holding the millipede, she last 5 seconds before giving it back but one of our resident, Julia was very happy to have another cuddle with him.

We always love an animal therapy visit at Beaufort Grange.

D-Day 80!

What a fabulous way to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of D-Day and remember the men who stormed Normandy beach. Given codename Operation Overlord, the D-Day landings is the largest sea-born invasion in history.

We had a fantastic performance from The D-Day Dollies Sophie and Emily or fondly known as “Sophily” to our residents.

Thank you Mini Concerts, they sang so beautifully that it brought a couple of residents to tears.

But there many smiles, singing and dancing from us all.

We ended the day with a Tea party where many residents reminisced with their stories on D-Day.

Father's Day

We had a blast for our father’s day celebration, Nick from Mini Concerts is now becoming a regular at the request of our residents, he gets everyone singing and dancing, he also stays for a little bit after his show to chat with the residents, which many like to shake his hand and thank him for a fantastic show. We then followed with some beer tasting for national beer day, with some classic dad beer like Hobgoblin and Old Speckled Hen, these went down like a treat and some of our residents said they felt spoilt.

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY from all of us at Beaufort Grange.
