Activities at Beeston View Memory Lane Community

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Luisa Painemilla

Activities Coordinator

Hi there, I'm Luisa, Activities Co-ordinator at Iddenshall Hall.

I have worked with the elderly over 8 years and also for fifteen years in the social field as an Activities Coordinator for different social groups in three countries. I have a Degree in Social Integration, a Certificate in Theatrical Psychology and a Music Therapy certificate. In the past I have worked for local authorities and in a cerebral palsy home.

My work is very rewarding and it is a pleasure planning events and activities each month. I enjoy interacting with Residents and learning about their interests, preferences and experiences.

Look out for our activities and events - you are welcome to join us!

Cotebrook Shire Horse Centre

We made a return visit to the Cotebrook Shire Horse Centre this month; we took residents from both Beeston View and Iddenshall Hall and were joined by some relatives from Iddenshall Hall as well.

There was plenty to see there, including baby pigs, chickens, otters, polecats, birds, ponies and, of course, the beautiful shire horses themselves. There were two foals for residents to see and the owners there were on hand to answer any questions we had about the animals. The otters caused great amusement when they were juggling with pebbles.

Residents really enjoyed themselves and were able to get up close and personal with the amazing creatures. We will definitely be returning soon!

Easter Entertainment

Easter Entertainment

We organised some Easter entertainment for residents at both Iddenshall Hall and Beeston View in the form of a visit from Strictly Entertainment. Sadie gave us a cabaret show with lots of old fashioned sing along songs and dancing. It was lovely for residents from both of our homes to socialise and enjoy the entertainment together.

Musical Entertainment

Musical Entertainment

Mark played and sang 40s and 50s music and interacted really well with residents, asking them about where they were born, where they used to go on holiday and having reminiscence chats during and after his session. Everyone loved him; some residents who don’t usually like to leave their rooms, heard the music and came out to join in too.

We will definitely be having Mark back to entertain us again and have booked him for June this year.

Comic Relief

Comic Relief

We celebrated Comic Relief at Beeston View this year by getting the staff to dress up and bake cakes with cherry red noses on.

Burleydam Garden Centre

Burleydam Garden Centre

Residents at Beeston View took a trip to Burleydam Garden Centre in Little Sutton recently.

It is a lovely garden centre with plenty to look at inside and out. There are some beautiful water features there and a really nice café to sit in and enjoy a cuppa with a slice of cake. We had a good look round at the home wares, food hall and plants/flowers, as well as water features and garden sheds.

It was a nice day too, so we were able to have a good walk around outside looking at the blooms.

Hello Again, John Hughes

Hello Again, John Hughes

John Hughes visited us again recently at Beeston View. Residents from Iddenshall Hall, as well as family members, also joined in with the entertainment.

It is always nice to see families enjoying time with their loved ones.
