Activities at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Shelbie Taylor
Hi my name is Shelbie, I am proud to be the Head of Activities here at Boroughbridge Manor.
I have worked at Boroughbridge Manor since 2013, I love making our residents smile. I get great satisfaction knowing I have made someone’s day better!
Myself, Leoni and Kelly have created a wonderful culture within Boroughbridge Manor and we work together to give our residents the best possible experiences.
We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. We are extremely fortunate to have our very own minibus, we love taking the residents out for coffee, shopping and lots of fun trips out whether that be to the museum or the seaside.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home
The wonderful world of Roald Dahl
Boroughbridge Manor had a treat in store for their resident bookworms on September 13th as residents all joined in to celebrate the wonderful work of Roald Dahl.
Roald Dahl Day celebrates the birthday of one of the greatest storytellers of all time. The prolific writer is known for penning many popular children’s books including Matilda, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The BFG, Fantastic Mr Fox, James and the Giant Peach to name but a few. He also wrote many books and short stories for adults, often with a twist in the tale. His books have been translated into 58 different languages and have sold well over 200 million copies worldwide.
Summer Fair
Staff, residents, relatives and the local community came together at Boroughbridge Manor to enjoy a Hawaiian themed Summer Fete that was held in the home’s grounds.
Boroughbridge Manor hosted a variety of activities throughout the day, including; pick a duck, egg & spoon races, live entertainment, plant stalls, tiki bar games and much more, which were enjoyed by everyone who came to the event.
Oh I do like to be besides the seaside
We took our first coastal trip out to Saltburn by the sea in what seems like forever! Even if the sun didn’t quite have its hat on we still had the most fantastic day! Residents and the team enjoyed a ride down to the beach in the cliff tramway and took a stroll along the pier. We worked up such an appetite we stopped off for a fond favourite; Fish & Chips!
International Beer Day
It's International Beer Day and what better way to celebrate than by bringing the pub to our residents here at Boroughbridge Manor on this rainy day!
Residents had a fantastic time and got involved in a variety of interesting activities throughout the day.
Happy Yorkshire Day
We’ve had a reyt good time celebrating Yorkshire day!
We hosted a Yorkshire themed day with a chuffin’ great afternoon tea’ where food and drinks from the area were served, such as Yorkshire curd tarts, parkin, lots of spice and of course a nice ‘brew’ Yorkshire style. Residents enjoyed a traditional roast dinner with all the trimmings, prepared by our talented chef, Rob.
Eat Ice Cream For Daily Happiness
Today we took a trip out to Brymor Ice Cream Parlour for some delicious ice cream, the weather held up which was even better!
Residents indulged in traditional favourites from Scrumptious Strawberry to more exotic flavours such as Black Cherry Whim Wham!
A fantastic day was had by all!
