Activities at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Shelbie Taylor
Hi my name is Shelbie, I am proud to be the Head of Activities here at Boroughbridge Manor.
I have worked at Boroughbridge Manor since 2017, I love making our residents smile. I get great satisfaction knowing I have made someone’s day better!
I have created a wonderful culture within Boroughbridge Manor and we work together to give our residents the best possible experiences.
We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. We are extremely fortunate to have our very own minibus, we love taking the residents out for coffee, shopping and lots of fun trips out whether that be to the museum or the seaside.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home

Bingo Bonanza
Across the country our homes and hospitals came together to find out which care home or hospital had the best Bingo players as we teamed up for Barchester’s Bingo Bonanza.
Residents were treated to some exciting virtual games of Bingo as part of Barchester’ very own game show series.
Everyone who participate had a fantastic time and enjoyed some friendly competition.

London Ladies
As part of our International Women’s Day celebrations, Residents from across our services were thrilled to join tour guide, Mandy Morrow, for an exciting talk about some Legendary London Ladies.
Mandy shared the fascinating stories of eight ladies with us, from the one of the richest heiresses in the world to the original 'Roaring Girl'.
Everyone who participated truly enjoyed the experience and were delighted to take a walk down memory lane.

Chinese New Year Celebrations
Today we have been busy welcoming in the year of the dragon with a variety of themed activities inspired by Chinese culture and traditions.
Our craft club have been busy creating their very own extendable dragons and have helped to decorate the home, in particular our reception area for all to see!
The Chinese new year is a festival that celebrates the beginning of a new year on the traditional lunisolar Chinese calendar!
We later sat down together to enjoy a delicious Chinese inspired lunch created by our talented head chef Tony, including crispy sweet and sour pork, prawn toast and delicious spring rolls!

Valentine's Party
Residents have had a ball this morning, thanks to Rebekah Austin’s fabulous Valentines performance! Residents spent more time on their feet, singing and dancing along to all the romantic classics. Suzanne then hosted a love themed tea party today for our residents to celebrate Valentine’s Day! Just look at that spread! Residents spoke about past love, Valentines they remember and the importance of feeling loved, not just on Valentine’s Day but every day.

MIND Time to Talk Day
This morning residents came together to share a cup of positivi-tea and some delicious homemade cake!
Time to Talk Day encourages us to engage in conversations about mental health. The more conversations we have, the better life is for everyone. Talking about mental health isn’t always easy and sometimes it’s even harder to say how you really feel. But a conversation has the power to change lives!
Some of us ventured out for a breath of fresh air into our local town. Being outdoors helps to generate positive emotions such as calmness, joy and creativity.

Pony Therapy
We had a lovely morning today with a special visit from KL PONY Therapy to put a smile on everyone's faces.
This fully inclusive activity allows for our residents to enjoy the sensory visit in either the communal areas, in their rooms or when they're on the go (as they often are!). Our residents enjoy seeing the ponies when they visit, learning all about their backgrounds and enjoy feeding them a polo or two!
