Activities at Braeburn Lodge Care Home

Our dedicated activities team are constantly dreaming up new and wonderful ways to support and stimulate the residents we look after. From trips to crafts, parties to skittles, musical performances and quizzes, we include something for everyone and pride ourselves on including everyone into the fun. We have a brilliant team of volunteers who help us to deliver more trips, support us at events and pop in for a cup of tea and chat. We have pet therapy at least once per week (sometimes twice!) and we take advantage of every school break by holding large scale events that we can invite families with children to. We have been developing ties with our neighbours since we first opened and thanks to this, we have successfully brought together our residents with local churches, choirs, Brownies groups, and schools. Whatever your interests are, here at Braeburn, there's something for everyone.

Life at Braeburn Lodge Care Home

Explorer Scouts

Explorer Scouts

The local Explorer Scouts visited Braeburn Lodge and planted up our many hanging baskets with lovely plants. We love having the connection with the Explorers, with this being the 2nd year then have joined us.

A Right Royal Wedding

A Right Royal Wedding

Residents watched the royal wedding on the big screen in the cinema room with a lovely buffet lunch prepared by our wonderful chefs. Bunting, flags and hats were adorned and a couple of tissues were needed during the happy event.

Equine-Assisted Learning

Equine-Assisted Learning

A beautiful day was spent at the Foxdale Equine Assisted Learning Centre. The sun shone beautifully and we spent time reflecting on times we'd spent with various animals. We got to groom the horses and also joined in with some breathing exercises, which helped residents engage with the horses. We then moved to the orchard for tea and a picnic that was followed by singing.

Watercolour Painting

Watercolour Painting

We spent and afternoon watching Anne paint a beautiful cockerel in watercolours. She made it look so easy!

Horse Therapy

Horse Therapy

It was a little chilly, but we had such a lovely day visiting the equine centre. After a cup of tea, we walked around the orchard and sat by the pond before watching the beautiful horses that were wandering around us. It brought back many memories for residents who lived on farms.

Countryside Drive

Countryside Drive

We bundled on to the home's minibus and took a drive around the local area. Most recently, we went over to Rutland Water, a beautiful area in the smallest county, Rutland. Looking at the lush, green trees and having a good ol' singalong made for a fun trip.
