Activities at Braeburn Lodge Care Home
Our dedicated activities team are constantly dreaming up new and wonderful ways to support and stimulate the residents we look after. From trips to crafts, parties to skittles, musical performances and quizzes, we include something for everyone and pride ourselves on including everyone into the fun. We have a brilliant team of volunteers who help us to deliver more trips, support us at events and pop in for a cup of tea and chat. We have pet therapy at least once per week (sometimes twice!) and we take advantage of every school break by holding large scale events that we can invite families with children to. We have been developing ties with our neighbours since we first opened and thanks to this, we have successfully brought together our residents with local churches, choirs, Brownies groups, and schools. Whatever your interests are, here at Braeburn, there's something for everyone.
Yasmine Dawson
I have worked at Braeburn Lodge since 2015. I started working as a carer and the activities side of the role really appealed to me. We organise a variety of activities to suit everybody’s preferences and abilities. I enjoy working at Braeburn and making a difference to the residents’ lives.

Life at Braeburn Lodge Care Home
Shopping for the Garden
This week the sun has been shining on Braeburn, so we can finally start work in the garden. We took residents out to the local garden centre, Waterside, to choose the fruits and vegetables that we will grow in one of our raised beds. Dianne, one of our volunteers, was kind enough to help us and we were very grateful for her knowledge when it came to picking the plants.
A Day in the Sun
Today we got out into the beautiful sunshine for a trip down our local market to pick up a few bits, including some lovely homemade cookies that went beautifully with our coffee in the Stage’s Garden. We couldn’t have asked for better weather and the idea of getting lunch driven out to us so we could stay all day was suggested! The river looked beautiful and after the nice walk through the market and sitting in the sun, we were ready for an afternoon siesta after lunch!
Off for a Pint
This week we broke the mould and went for an evening drink at the Goat Pub and Restaurant, just up the road. Everyone ordered their favourite drink and it really was a treat. It made a lovely change from our usual coffee morning trips and it has been decreed that we must do it again!
PCSO Coffee Morning
For this week’s coffee morning we were lucky enough to have 3 guest visitors. PCSO Michelle Laughton and PCSO Raechell Last took the time out to introduce themselves to our residents and tell them a bit about what they do. And it just so happened that Judy Stevens of I’d Rather be in Deeping Magazine popped by for a photo and chat as well! It made for a nice surprise to our weekly coffee morning and we will definitely invite them to come again!
Keep Moving with Ruth Carlton
Today we were led by Ruth Carlton in a fun-filled session of gentle chair exercises. We had such a variety of props to help us move, it felt more like play than work and it certainly got us chuckling and we got a tad competitive to score the best shots!
Good Vibes Visits Braeburn Lodge
The residents came out en mass for Saturday’s performance from local Gospel Choir, 'Good Vibes'. They truly wowed us with their talent and we even joined in a song or two. It was a lovely morning and we would like to say a big thank you to the members of Good Vibes for offering their time for us and brightening our day.
