Activities at Braeburn Lodge Care Home

Our dedicated activities team are constantly dreaming up new and wonderful ways to support and stimulate the residents we look after. From trips to crafts, parties to skittles, musical performances and quizzes, we include something for everyone and pride ourselves on including everyone into the fun. We have a brilliant team of volunteers who help us to deliver more trips, support us at events and pop in for a cup of tea and chat. We have pet therapy at least once per week (sometimes twice!) and we take advantage of every school break by holding large scale events that we can invite families with children to. We have been developing ties with our neighbours since we first opened and thanks to this, we have successfully brought together our residents with local churches, choirs, Brownies groups, and schools. Whatever your interests are, here at Braeburn, there's something for everyone.

Yasmine Dawson

Activities Coordinator

I have worked at Braeburn Lodge since 2015. I started working as a carer and the activities side of the role really appealed to me. We organise a variety of activities to suit everybody’s preferences and abilities. I enjoy working at Braeburn and making a difference to the residents’ lives.

Life at Braeburn Lodge Care Home

Cheese and Wine Night with a Twist

Cheese and Wine Night with a Twist

Braeburn Lodge welcomes their new manager Kate Kay with a celebratory Cheese and Wine evening. Residents, families, friends, and local group representatives turned out on a cold windy night to welcome Kate Kay our new General Manager to Braeburn Lodge. Kate has been in nursing for nineteen years but since joining the Care Home sector four years ago she is a devotee, dedicated to providing quality care that can transform the lives of the elderly. Kate quoted “I want to ensure that Braeburn Lodge is the very best care facility in the area”. Kate was able to speak with all the residents and families. Whilst everyone enjoyed a lovely relaxed evening sharing a glass of wine and of course the obligatory cup of tea or coffee. The evening was a resounding success, with a great welcome being received by Kate from the residents and families.

Pancake Day

Pancake Day

Braeburn’s residents enjoyed pancakes today as we celebrated Shrove Tuesday. Rev Linda offered her hand to help serve up the delicious treats and there wasn’t a single lost pancake on the floor or ceiling when we were done!

Hymm Singing at Braeburn

Hymm Singing at Braeburn

This afternoon we had a lovely service lead by Rev Linda with readings from the Bible and hymns centred around Candlemas to celebrate this time of year.

Trudi Mason Visits

Trudi Mason Visits

Today we were lucky to have a special visit from Trudi Mason, a fantastic, lively, cheery pianist and singer who got everyone smiling, clapping, singing and dancing. We were certainly warm after all of that dancing and everyone left in great cheer (and ready for a snooze!)

Ball Games

Ball Games

Today the residents at Braeburn exercised their motor skills with a competitive game of basketball. But that wasn’t enough for us! We then exercised our brains with a winter themed quiz. We worked up quite the appetite  between the two and, as always, rewarded ourselves with cup of coffee and slice of homemade cake.

Keeping Warm at Braeburn...

Keeping Warm at Braeburn...

The residents at Braeburn kept themselves warm on this chilly winter Saturday by heating up the competition in a game of skittles. After a couple of warm up shots, we got into the full swing of things and by the end of the game we all had at least one strike to our name. Those coffees were definitely well deserved!
