Activities at Brampton View Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Virtual Flower Arranging with Florist

Today we joined florist Kathryn Delve for a virtual flower arranging session over zoom. Kathryn demonstrated how to create beautiful table displays in preparation for Valentine’s Day. We joined along with the creations at the same time adding roses and carnations to our displays.

Kathryn commented “delivering fun workshops is absolutely the best part of my job. I love helping people create something beautiful and seeing how much pleasure they gain from the experience!” We were thrilled with our displays and have placed them around the home for all to enjoy in the run up to Valentine’s Day.

You're Never to Old to Learn

In preparation for Chinese New Year we spent some time this morning looking at the Chinese alphabet and attempted to learn to write our own names in Chinese.

We also learnt some common phrases like hello is Ni Hao, I love you is woaini and most importantly where is the pub is jiuba zainali! We are fully prepared for a trip to china now and are looking forward to our Chinese food tasting tomorrow afternoon.

Dynamic Duo Delight

Yesterday we were joined by Lesley Ann Vocalist Entertainer and Katie Rose Vocalist for an afternoon of singing and even some dancing!

The ladies never disappoint with their sparkly outfits which is usually how they are described by residents around the home.

They sang a medley of songs and we couldn’t resident getting up and joining in with them! Unfortunately we didn’t have the sparkly outfits to match but theirs always next time. We had a wonderful afternoon and all left with smiles on our faces, asking when the ladies would be returning to us!

Four-legged Friends

As well as our PAT dog visits we also receive visits from staff and families with their furry friends!

Rosie one of our nurses brought her dog Lily in to meet some of the residents. Gillian was absolutely amazed by Lilly’s hair and didn’t want her to leave. Rosie spent time telling the residents about how to care for Lily and her long hair and residents shared memories of their pets.

Thank you to Rosie and we certainly hope to see Lily again soon!
