Activities at Brampton View Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Sarah Jane James

Activity Coordinator

Hello, I am Sarah, I am the Activity Coordinator and Lead at Brampton View.  I truly believe in enriching the lives of others and ensuring the care we provide helps everyone live to their fullest.

What makes us all so special is that every single one of us is different, with our own unique needs – that's what makes us beautifully unique! My passion is to give people the chance to feel connected, empowered, and to have a real sense of purpose. This is especially important for those who might be less able, as fostering those connections and feelings of belonging can make a world of difference. Ultimately, my goal is to create activities that are all about you, bringing happiness and joy right into our home.

When I'm not at Brampton View, my home is a lively hub! I live with my partner, our three wonderful children, three dogs, a cat, a rabbit, and a snake!  I adore being out in nature and soaking up family time when I can!

My background has given me valuable experience in supporting people through challenging times. I've worked in rehabilitation, providing dedicated care to an individual with a brain injury in his own home, and also as a communicator guide for an individual living with a brain tumour. In addition to my work here at Brampton View, I'm also a Reiki Practitioner, which I help individuals move forward from past trauma, gain clarity, and build strong self-belief.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Leap Year Pub Day Fun

Our pub themed day was a huge success today! Residents enjoyed a tipple of their choice and shared memories of their favourite drinks through the years. Particularly enjoying a gin in the 60s on a Saturday night and memories of trying their first drinks.

We spent time debating current events and sharing lots of laughter just as you would in the pub and finished the day off with some games of table football, air hockey and pool!

Both staff and residents commented that it was a great day and they can’t wait for the next one.

Barchester Foundation's Helping Hand

Brampton View care home in Chapel Brampton, Northampton recently presented Favell Day Services (FDS) with a cheque for £636.00 towards the members Christmas meal and activities.

FDS offer a day care service to physically disabled adults over 18 years of age and have been operating since 2013. The organisation is a self-help support group, run by the members and supported by dedicated professional caring staff. The service is provided several times per week at two locations in Northampton and consists of a range of activities and complimentary refreshments.

The grant had been awarded by Barchester’s Charitable Foundation, a charity that helps older people and adults with a disability or mental health problems across England, Scotland and Wales by offering grants to help people connect or re-connect with others in their local community.

Motshodiemang Masedi, General Manager at Brampton View care home and Activities Coordinator; Emma Robinson visited the FDS group at the St Luke’s Centre in Duston where the group meet every Monday and Wednesday to present the cheque.

Service Manager; Kate said “The Barchester Foundation’s donation helped towards making our Christmas Day even more special for each of the attending members. It helped us buy additional gifts and serve up a bountiful Christmas dinner!”

Group member and Trustee at FDS; Nick Flynn took time to chat with the Brampton View representatives, updating them both on the group and service provision.  Motshodiemang, said: “We are always keen to show as much support as we can to local charities. Being able to brighten the lives of these amazing people at Christmas time was such an honour, we very much hope this is just the start of an ongoing friendship.”

Motshodiemang welcomed the group to join the residents of Brampton View at any of the regular weekly activities and the larger community events held at the home throughout the year.

Bingo Bonanza!

Yesterday we had a very competitive afternoon of bingo with all of our fellow Barchester homes up and down the country!

We played online against each other and completed for lines and full houses. Our Brampton team played well but unfortunately were beaten by other homes to the full house first but we had a great time and we look forward to the next event.

Restore Northampton Donations

This week we had the pleasure of meeting Deborah from Restore Northampton who came to collect all of the items our wonderful relatives and community have donated for them. We had the chance to show Deborah around our home and learn more about what Restore Northampton do for the local area. We are happy to be able to help support local families in need and look forward to partnering with them for more projects this year.

The collection box by the front door is now empty so if you can please donate any toiletries, tinned goods and cupboard items. A small donation goes further than you think!
