Activities at Brookfield Care Home
Our Activities coordinator dedicates her time on getting feedback from our residents of what they like to do. We have introduced paper mornings which involves group discussions and an active mind, and we also have a variety of entertainers that come in on a weekly basis. We hold a residents quiz once a week as it is one of our more popular activities, we now call it the Big Quiz due to its popularity.
It is important that we involve the community and family in many of our activities. We have the local rugby club heritage centre coming in once a week to do Bocci (indoor bowls) and seated exercise. We also hold cheese and wine evenings for family and residents which are very popular. Here at Brookfield we pride ourselves on the fabulous bond our activity coordinator has with all our residents as they are as happy to see her each morning as she is to see her friends.

Life at Brookfield Care Home
A spot of retail therapy
Residents Terry and Barbara expressed an interest in a spot of retail therapy, so we delivered and off we went and took a trip to Sainsbury’s in Lymm Village looking for a few bargains!
Whilst there we even picked up a few treats for other residents and the team too. Where will we go next?
Ice-cream calling!
"I have ice-creams for everyone!" as Val's Ices paid a visit to the home playing that favourite sound to announce her arrival! As soon as the familiar sound was heard, residents beamed with excitement as orders were placed from the traditional 99 to sherbet and raspberry sauce toppings!
It was a delicious way to spend the afternoon and we can't wait for Val to return, see you next time.
Coffee in the community
Residents, Shelia, Terry and Lilly enjoyed at trip to Westy Community Centre in Latchford for a morning coffee. They enjoyed chatting and making new friends over coffee and a slice of home-made cake. Whilst there they also watched a flower arranging demonstration and said “they’d like to join in next time”.
A special thank you to host, Joan at the centre for making us all so welcome and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
Pebble painting
Residents of Brookfield painted stones collected from Morecambe beach by activities coordinator, Suzanne. Everyone showed their artistic flair with their individual colourful designs and had so much fun! There was a lot of chatter reminiscing of their childhood holidays spent on the beach and with their own families over the years.
Pets at the Palaces
Residents across our services had a delightful time during a special virtual sensory storytelling event, led by Art Historian Jon Sleigh from the Historic Royal Palaces.
Jon took us on a journey to discover some of the more unusual and unexpected inhabitants of the palaces and the Tower of London, sharing fascinating stories about the pets at the palaces.
Whilst enjoying the virtual experience, our residents were treated to hot beverages, delicious biscuits, berries and cakes. It was a truly lovely time for all.
Home receive community gift
Residents and staff at Brookfield care home in Lymm, were recently overjoyed to receive a karaoke machine as a gift from the local community.
The kind gesture was a wonderful surprise for the activities team and the residents are thoroughly thrilled with the gift and are spending many a happy moments singing, dancing and laughing to the tunes. The fantastic gift is a huge hit as music and live entertainment is a integral feature on the homes life enrichment programme. Music is used to support communication, connection and enables residents to engage together.
