Activities at Brookfield Care Home
Our Activities coordinator dedicates her time on getting feedback from our residents of what they like to do. We have introduced paper mornings which involves group discussions and an active mind, and we also have a variety of entertainers that come in on a weekly basis. We hold a residents quiz once a week as it is one of our more popular activities, we now call it the Big Quiz due to its popularity.
It is important that we involve the community and family in many of our activities. We have the local rugby club heritage centre coming in once a week to do Bocci (indoor bowls) and seated exercise. We also hold cheese and wine evenings for family and residents which are very popular. Here at Brookfield we pride ourselves on the fabulous bond our activity coordinator has with all our residents as they are as happy to see her each morning as she is to see her friends.

Life at Brookfield Care Home
The great outdoors!
The great outdoors! Resident, Terry enjoys walking around our garden for a breath of fresh air. He’s watched the rhododendron tree bloom throughout the month of May and often remarks on its beautiful colour. We are proud of tree.
The sound of music
Residents of Brookfield enjoyed a lovely afternoon singing and dancing together whilst popular entertainers, Janet and David performed.
It was a fantastic afternoon, everyone absolutely loved having a dance and twirling around the lounge before they enjoy a refreshing cup of tea and slice of home-made cake. There were huge smiles all around as the afternoon came to a close!
Birthday celebrations
Residents and colleagues recently celebrated resident, Margaret’s 93-years young birthday.
The birthday girl enjoyed a party with her friends at Brookfield before being presented with a delicious cake and a rousing rendition of ‘Happy birthday’, everyone washed down their slice with a glass of sherry and fizz.
There were lots of beautiful cards and gifts, and messages from her family who live in South Africa.
King Charles III Coronation celebrations
Excitement was in the air as we all celebrated the highly anticipated Coronation of King Charles in style. Our home was beautifully decorated with themed flags, banners and red, white and blue balloons, setting the stage for a grand royal tea party after watching live coverage of the event.
The whole home came together, along with families and friends to celebrate our new King and talk about the new era the country is entering. Our talented hospitality team prepared an assortment of delicious sweet and savoury treats for all to enjoy, accompanied by a glass of champagne. We all had such a brilliant time celebrating the Coronation, such a momentous occasion.
Regal crafts
Residents had a wonderful creative morning making crowns for the King’s coronation, reminiscing about the late Queen’s coronation in 1952. We added sparkling gems, and looked very regal in our home-made crowns. We also enjoyed a refreshing cup of tea and home-made cake. We love show casing our creative sides!
Coronation history
Across our services Residents had a wonderful time participating in an interactive virtual talk with Pippa Catterall, Professor of History and Policy at the University of Westminster, where we delved into the rich history of coronations.
During the talk, we explored fascinating topics such as the coronation chair, the crown, and other significant aspects related to King Charles' upcoming coronation. Our residents were thrilled to have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the memoirs of past coronations from 1937 and 1953, as well as learning about the coronation oath and what to expect from the ceremony, including the music, guests, and pageantry.
