Activities at Brookfield Care Home
Our Activities coordinator dedicates her time on getting feedback from our residents of what they like to do. We have introduced paper mornings which involves group discussions and an active mind, and we also have a variety of entertainers that come in on a weekly basis. We hold a residents quiz once a week as it is one of our more popular activities, we now call it the Big Quiz due to its popularity.
It is important that we involve the community and family in many of our activities. We have the local rugby club heritage centre coming in once a week to do Bocci (indoor bowls) and seated exercise. We also hold cheese and wine evenings for family and residents which are very popular. Here at Brookfield we pride ourselves on the fabulous bond our activity coordinator has with all our residents as they are as happy to see her each morning as she is to see her friends.

Life at Brookfield Care Home
A trip to the seaside!
Residents from Brookfield recently enjoyed a visit to Blackpool for the day and despite the rain this didn’t dampen their spirits!
Everyone took a trip along the pier before enjoying a fish and chip lunch together, and of course, no beach trip is complete without an ice cream, and to enjoy this, everyone sat on the beach front and reflected on their wonderful day together, with some even reminiscing of their days on the beach as a child.
Sarah, General Manager said “A wonderful day has been had by all, and it’s always lovely to see the Residents so happy and enjoying themselves.”
Sweet treats
Residents of Brookfield were delighted to welcome a local children’s choir to the home for a special musical performance. Members of the choir sung beautifully for our Residents as some Residents sung along to the tunes.
Not only were Residents impressed by the singing, but they filled the room with laughter as the choir told a number of humorous short stories and jokes. Once the performance had finished, members of the choir socialised with Residents as they enjoyed a selection of refreshments and especially prepared bags of sweets.
A spot of retail therapy
Residents of Brookfield enjoyed a trip on the mini bus for a spot of retail therapy in Lymm, with one resident remarking ““It’s nice to get out, it’s been a lovely morning”
Tea, cake and a comfortable chair in the homes lounge or newly refurbished bistro can be hard to beat sometimes, yet a short shopping trip, fresh air, can raise spirits. We ensure our residents remain connected to their local community and local life and these trips are very popular.
The sound of music
Thank you to Janet and David for a wonderful afternoon of entertainment with the ‘Sound of Music’ show.
Residents enjoyed a wonderful and exciting show, joining in with all the hits from the musical before watching clips from the movie 🎥 and sharing their favourite memories of this iconic film.
RAF Museum London
Across our services we had a lovely time joining Rhiannon Watkinson from the RAF Museum London for an interactive talk exploring the exciting and innovative aviation history of Hendon.
Our residents were able to learn about the first flights from the fields at Hendon, the creation of the London Aerodrome and Battle of Britain pilots who flew from RAF Hendon.
The talk also included photographic and film material from the Museum’s archive. Residents across our homes had a fantastic time and we truly enjoyed the virtual experience.
Holy Communion
Residents of Brookfield were delighted to welcome Mr Bundey and Christine from St Mary’s Church Lymm to the home for a beautiful Holy Communion service/
Resident, Roz said a reading from a Helen Steiner Rice book, with everyone joining in with the Hymns before taking Holy Communion.
