Activities at Brookfield Care Home

Our Activities coordinator dedicates her time on getting feedback from our residents of what they like to do. We have introduced paper mornings which involves group discussions and an active mind, and we also have a variety of entertainers that come in on a weekly basis. We hold a residents quiz once a week as it is one of our more popular activities, we now call it the Big Quiz due to its popularity.

It is important that we involve the community and family in many of our activities. We have the local rugby club heritage centre coming in once a week to do Bocci (indoor bowls) and seated exercise. We also hold cheese and wine evenings for family and residents which are very popular. Here at Brookfield we pride ourselves on the fabulous bond our activity coordinator has with all our residents as they are as happy to see her each morning as she is to see her friends.

Life at Brookfield Care Home

Trip to High Legh Garden Centre

Getting into the festive spirit with a trip to High Legh Garden centre!  Resident Eliza loved seeing the singing Reindeer and sang along with them with her elf hat on!

A spot of retail therapy!

Residents recently enjoyed a trip to their nearby Matalan store where new Resident, Alfred headed straight to the men's section to add to his winter wardrobe.

After browsing the aisles we stopped for a cuppa and a delicious bacon butty! Back at Brookfield, Alfred was excited to try on his new clothes and show his style to his new friends!

A spot of lunch with friends

Residents of Brookfield recently visited their friends at the local Salvation Army where they enjoyed homemade soup especially prepared by their chef, Alan.

Celia enjoyed chatting with the staff and her friends and made a beautiful Christmas card for her grandsons, whilst Margaret worked alongside Sue and also made a beautiful card too.

June loved the Christmas tree and loved having her picture taken in front of it. It was a lovely outing for all!

Trip to Bents

Our Christmas trip to Bents Garden Centre - our ladies had a wonderful shopping experience at this amazing Christmas village.

Resident, Vivian fancied buying a squirrel for her bedroom, whilst Margaret bought her friends an owl each and Pat loved choosing Christmas gifts for her family.

Our ladies enjoyed a lovely scone with jam and cream from the cafe, with hot pots of tea! We all enjoyed seeing the wonderful displays of trees and decorations and the singing Santa's too!

Childhood memories

Residents have enjoyed a morning of reminiscence and are looking forward to the launch of their monthly 'Book club'.  Today brought memories of their favourite childhood books with Enid Blyton coming out top!   Fun facts - Did you know that Enid Mary Blyton was an English children's writer whose books have been among the world's best-sellers since the 1930s, selling more than 600 million copies. Blyton's books are still enormously popular, and have been translated into 90 languages.
