Activities at Brookfield Care Home

Our Activities coordinator dedicates her time on getting feedback from our residents of what they like to do. We have introduced paper mornings which involves group discussions and an active mind, and we also have a variety of entertainers that come in on a weekly basis. We hold a residents quiz once a week as it is one of our more popular activities, we now call it the Big Quiz due to its popularity.

It is important that we involve the community and family in many of our activities. We have the local rugby club heritage centre coming in once a week to do Bocci (indoor bowls) and seated exercise. We also hold cheese and wine evenings for family and residents which are very popular. Here at Brookfield we pride ourselves on the fabulous bond our activity coordinator has with all our residents as they are as happy to see her each morning as she is to see her friends.

Life at Brookfield Care Home

David's Sixties Show

We have a variety of entertainers visiting Brookfield, David John Dee has been one of those for many years and is a firm favourite with his songs and stories from his favourite musical era

Residents were taken on a trip back to the 60's with David, singing along with well-known tunes and Terry didn't disappoint as he took to the dance floor.

This was a real journey down memory lane, especially for Steven who chatted afterwards about some of the groups and singers he'd seen 'back in the day' including Sinatra.

Bloomin' Lovely

Did you know that we encourage and support our residents to retain their interests, hobbies and daily lifestyle preferences to continue pursuing the things they have always enjoyed?

Flower arranging is always a firm favourite with the ladies at Brookfield, the gents are invited to join in, but up to now they've declined the floral creativity preferring dominoes and scrabble

Games afternoon

Residents at Brookfield enjoy a varied life enrichment programme to keep the mind, body and soul active. Each day there are popular group activities bringing everyone together along with individual Resident centred activities.

Live musical performance

Residents of Brookfield enjoyed a lovely afternoon singing and dancing together whilst enjoying live entertainment.

It was a fantastic afternoon, everyone absolutely loved having a dance and twirling around the lounge before they enjoy a refreshing cup of tea and slice of home-made cake.

There were huge smiles all around as the afternoon came to a close!

Cheese and Wine

Brie-tastic afternoon for Residents as they enjoyed a relaxing afternoon with an array of wine and cheese.  Conversation and laughter flowed throughout the afternoon as Residents shared memories and danced along to their favourite songs playing in the background.

One resident remarked they’d had such a good time she’d like to do it every day and for another the discovery of port salut cheese had the taste buds alight.

A splash of colour

Residents from Brookfield often get together to enjoy their regular art and craft sessions which supports their creative ideas and encourages different methods of Art. Residents have been busy showing their own style of colourful designs.

This class is particularly popular with all and everyone thoroughly enjoys a get together with a cuppa and a slice of delicious cake.   Residents enjoy the colouring and crafting as find it very calming and therapeutic. It enhances mindfulness and promotes a positive mental well-being.
