Activities at Brookfield Care Home
Our Activities coordinator dedicates her time on getting feedback from our residents of what they like to do. We have introduced paper mornings which involves group discussions and an active mind, and we also have a variety of entertainers that come in on a weekly basis. We hold a residents quiz once a week as it is one of our more popular activities, we now call it the Big Quiz due to its popularity.
It is important that we involve the community and family in many of our activities. We have the local rugby club heritage centre coming in once a week to do Bocci (indoor bowls) and seated exercise. We also hold cheese and wine evenings for family and residents which are very popular. Here at Brookfield we pride ourselves on the fabulous bond our activity coordinator has with all our residents as they are as happy to see her each morning as she is to see her friends.

Life at Brookfield Care Home
Residents enjoy reminiscence session
Residents of Brookfield enjoyed a reminiscence session over afternoon tea as we took a trip down Memory Lane exploring images of Warrington past and present.
Local history has the power to bring people and communities together. The stories behind the places we live helps us discover notable local industries and expertise, famous landmarks and remarkable people. They also evoke memories of personal experiences; school days, games and sporting endeavours. Sharing our stories helps us to connect to the people and places we care about.
Birthday celebrations
Resident, Barbara recently celebrated her birthday in style surrounded by staff and friends in the home. Barbara had a wonderful day.
Barbara was over the moon with the gifts she received and was delighted to blow out the candles on her cake.
Sarah Nolan, General Manager said: “It was a lovely afternoon which was enjoyed by everyone and it was nice that Barbara could share her day with all the other residents and the staff made sure her birthday celebrations were spectacular!”
A little competitive fun
A popular activity amongst our residents here at Brookfield is Dominoes. Residents like this game since it reminds them of their childhood and they have happy memories related to this game which they like to share with us.
There is always a little friendly competitiveness involved but everyone always has fun!
Deputy Manager celebrates 20-years long service
A Deputy Manager at Brookfield in Lymm has received a prestigious 20 Year Service Award in celebration of working at Barchester Healthcare for 20 years.
Jane Devoti now Deputy Manager started at Barchester in January 2004 as Care Assistant and has worked with residents and their relatives to ensure that their needs have been met over the years. In 2009 Jane was promoted to Senior Care Practitioner then later to Deputy General Manager.
Residents show their artistic flair
Our residents enjoyed an afternoon of colouring this week, whilst listening to some classic 60s tunes and sharing a cup of tea and chat.
Colouring pictures is such a great way to promote hand-eye coordination and some of our ladies and gents showed their artistic side, with some beautiful shading.
Eyes down for a game of bingo
It was ‘eyes down’ for residents at Brookfield as they attempted to win a full house during a game of themed bingo, with the care team the house callers!
Many of the residents have played bingo prior to moving into the home and bingo continues to be a popular game for the home as part of its life enrichment programme. There is lots of excitement in the air to see who will claim the prize!
