Activities at Bushey House Beaumont Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Tina Stovey

Activities Lead /Diversity Champion

I started working at Bushey House Beaumont in 2022 in an activities role that I absolutely love. There are very few jobs that offer the daily satisfaction and fulfilment that mine does. I am delighted to be able to play my part in helping to bring joy and laughter into our residents’ daily lives and offer them an interesting choice of events to do just that.

Air Ambulance lands at Bushey House

Residents and staff were all pleasantly surprised, when the Essex & Hertfordshire air ambulance landed in the garden at Bushey House.

The air ambulance had been called to a medical emergency which occurred at a nearby address and Bushey House was the closest space, with a large enough area to enable the helicopter to land safely, to attend the situation.

Our catering team were only too pleased to offer some hospitality. by serving the crew breakfast, comprising sausage and egg sandwiches and freshly brewed tea and coffee.

Residents watched with interest, as the air ambulance took off to return back to base.

Residents get taken for a cycle ride

Some of our residents had a fun afternoon cycling in Cassiobury Park. Watford cycle hub have specially adapted trishaws, where residents could feel they were once again riding a bike.

After a couple of laps, we enjoyed some refreshments in the local tea shop. We are planning to take some more residents out in the near future.

Bushey Beaumont hosts Bushey Festival launch event

Despite the grey clouds and drizzle, Bushey House Beaumont Care Home was buzzing with its Garden Party on Friday in aid of the Bushey Festival. The launch event of this year’s Festival which celebrated its 40th year, over 120 guests, residents, friends and families enjoyed an afternoon of live music with the Bushey Ukes and singer Lee Rivers.

Everyone was delighted with the delicious food presented by our wonderful catering team and thoroughly enjoyed an afternoon of togetherness, a lovely time was had by all.

Keeping fit at Bushey Beaumont

Our residents love to fit, whatever their abilities. We hold weekly yoga and music and movement classes which are always well attended.

Residents agree that as well as being great fun, they also see the benefits with improved balance, better flexibility and well being.

St Hildas Poetry Visit

St Hildas School paid us another visit , with a poetry recital. They also presented all the residents with beautiful hand made flowers as part of Empathy Week.

These visits are such a special event for our residents and pupils and its a joy to see so many smiling faces.

Green Fingers

The sun has been out and our green fingered residents have been busy with the gardening club.

A few weeks ago some seeds and plants were sown and now they have grown so large they have had to be moved to our new raised planters.

We can't wait to try our first crop of Bushey Beaumont tomatoes.
