Activities at Caldy Manor Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators work together to provide daily activities suited to the tastes of residents. We encourage those we support to continue with any hobbies whilst they stay at home. We also hold group activities, such as exercise to music, sing-alongs, craft sessions and visits to local places of interest. There are also evening events, including cheese & wine evenings and race nights. We keep families up-to-date through our newsletter and notices that can be found across the home. Family and friends are always welcome to join in!

Stephanie Boyd

Lead Activities Coordinator

Hi my name is Steph and I am Lead Activities here at Caldy Manor. As an Activities Coordinator I focus on encouraging our residents to take part in outdoor trips on the mini bus, delivering varied exercise classes and assisting residents with their chosen activities as part of our homes life enrichment plan. It is important that we continue to ensure our residents are connected to their local community.

Life at Caldy Manor Care Home

NESCAFE virtual tour

We had a fabulous time joining NESCAFÉ’s virtual coffee experience.

We were able to look into how they sustainably farm their coffee beans, as well as, to have a virtual tour of one of their factories all from the comfort of our home.

To make things even more interesting, our residents had the chance to test their knowledge with an interactive quiz, and to the delight of all to taste the signature Sweet Cinnamon Shaken Iced Coffee cocktail.

Valentine's inspired cookery demo

We had a lovely time joining Chef Alex Connell from Vegetarian for Life for a Valentine’s-inspired virtual cookery demonstration.  Chef Alex created some delicious Valentine’s Day-inspired vegetarian desserts, which our residents had the opportunity to try too.

First, our residents sampled a wonderful sticky toffee pudding, which was absolutely heavenly. Then they tried hazelnut truffles which were a huge hit and finally they were treated to a chocolate orange cake which everyone adored.

Burns celebrations

Caldy Manor care home in Caldy, prepared a traditional Burns Lunch to the tune of bagpipes and the fun continued well into the wee small hours.

Staff and residents at the home were involved in a number of activities including a virtual performance of Scottish Country Dancing to mark the Scottish institution, including giving the time-honoured address to the ‘Great chieftain O’ the pudding’ race’ – the haggis.

General Manager, Hannah Roberts, at Caldy Manor, thought it was a perfect occasion to celebrate an afternoon steeped in age-old tradition as well as getting in a spot of Scotch whisky tasting and reading a selection of Burns’ poems

Picnic trip to Abergele

Residents had a lovely trip to Abergele in the mini bus. Our ladies had a lovely day and enjoyed a picnic lunch and beautiful scenery. Trips out at Caldy manor are always popular withresidents and staff.

Colourful displays at Caldy Manor

We spent an afternoon arranging flowers into displays that we decorated our home with. Our ladies worked really hard designing their displays. We finished our afternoon with a flower quiz.

Home links with charitable foundation

Caldy Manor care home in Caldy is launching three grants totalling £30,000 in the name of a former Barchester resident, Jeanette Gill, who generously donated part of her legacy to Barchester’s Charitable Foundation.  The Foundation is calling for deserving local charities and community groups to apply for these special awards.

Named in her memory, the Jeanette Gill Special Awards are open to groups and individuals in need in our local community, and will be awarded to projects that enrich lives and encourage an active lifestyle through arts, music, sports and culture for older people
