Activities at Canmore Lodge Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators are committed to organising a variety of events as well as offering tailored programmes to stimulate residents both mentally and physically. There are regular outings in the minibus to local places of interest, such as trips to the beach for ice cream, pub visits for a pint, and regular trips to Dobbies for tea and cakes. Georgie Girl, an old English sheep dog, also stops by the home on regular basis for pet therapy. Musical entertainment is a big hit with residents as well, so we book fan favourites to come and play at the home each month. At Canmore, relatives are always encouraged to join in on the fun too.

Life at Canmore Lodge Care Home

Bingo anyone?

As part of the homes varied life enrichment programme we host popular group activities and bingo is one of those favourites! These popular sessions always show a little friendly competition as residents compete to declare 'house' and win one of their favourite sweet treats.

Residents often comment on their love of visiting their local bingo halls and evenings in their younger days.  We love it when our residents share their memories.

The Wallace Collection

Residents across our services had a lovely time joining Emily and Marie-Therese from the Wallace Collection, for a virtual introduction to Reubens' Rainbow Landscape.

Residents truly enjoyed the sensory walk through one of the museum’s most famous landscape paintings.

Everyone who joined had a wonderful experience and can’t wait to put their creative skills to the test by painting some landscapes of our their in the coming days!

Virtual afternoon at the theatre

Residents across our services had a fantastic time enjoying the virtual screening of Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em. Frank Spencer’s comical misadventures had everyone laughing and it was wonderful to see so many happy faces.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and a special thanks to The Barn Theatre in the Cotswolds for bringing this stage adaptation of the beloved sitcom to our screens.

St Columba’s Church Fun Day!

The residents at Canmore had a lovely recent visit up to the church’s fun day! What a beautiful day it was, the sun shining everyone laughing and just having some good old fashioned chit chat. There were lots of different stalls from home knitted baby woollens to lots of handmade knits and nats.

To finish off there were plenty of refreshments in tow from burgers and baps to cuppas and cakes

Thank you so much to all the staff and volunteers who made us feel so welcome and off course for all their hard work for bringing together an event like this.

Entertainment with Jamie Dee

Thank you so much to Jamie for coming in and entertaining our residents and staff! It's safe to say everyone had an amazing time, dancing and having a good sing-along! We all loved a good try at the Slosh as well as the YMCA! The residents love a live entertainer coming to visit the home. It’s a nice change of pace for them and they get to have a sing and a boogie! Thank you to the staff for making it a more memorable experience for them as well!

Cornish Seal Sanctuary

A big thank you to the Cornish Seal Sanctuary for the fantastic live virtual event today!

Residents across our services loved seeing the seals up close and learning about the incredible work the sanctuary does to protect them and other wildlife in Cornwall as well.

Everyone truly enjoyed the experience.
