Activities at Canmore Lodge Care Home
Our Activities Coordinators are committed to organising a variety of events as well as offering tailored programmes to stimulate residents both mentally and physically. There are regular outings in the minibus to local places of interest, such as trips to the beach for ice cream, pub visits for a pint, and regular trips to Dobbies for tea and cakes. Georgie Girl, an old English sheep dog, also stops by the home on regular basis for pet therapy. Musical entertainment is a big hit with residents as well, so we book fan favourites to come and play at the home each month. At Canmore, relatives are always encouraged to join in on the fun too.

Life at Canmore Lodge Care Home

Home raises funds for Charitable Foundation
Residents and staff put the ‘fun’ into ‘fundraising’ with a charity bake sale to raise money for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation.
Kimberley Laird, Commercial Manager at Canmore Lodge said: “We love to fundraise for charities throughout the year, we pick different causes to support that have been selected by staff, residents and friends of the home. Barchester’s Charitable Foundation is a great cause that helps many people in need is also a cause very close to the hearts of all our staff and residents, so we feel really proud to have been able to raise this money. Thank you to everyone who donated!”

Jewellery Making
Residents were joined by the lovely Hazel here in the home who hosted a jewellery workshop. There were so many choices of beads and accessories on offer and the residents were able to be as creative as possible in their designs. There were some beautiful bracelets at the end and a great time was had by all.

Vintage Bus Museumn
Residents at Canmore Lodge enjoyed a fun filled day out at the vintage bus museum.
It was lovely to see our residents take a trip down memory lane as they got to see and explore the many varieties of coaches on display. To finish the day off the residents got a chance to sit in the driver’s seat.

Celebrating International Nurses Day
We celebrated the anniversary of the birth of nursing pioneer Florence Nightingale, also known as International Nurses Day, by acknowledging our dedicated and hard-working nurses.
To mark the occasion and to say thank you, our residents made appreciation cards for our dedicated nursing team, and our nurses reflected on what the day means for them.
Every staff member at our home is going above and beyond. A big thank you to all.

Spring fling brings community together
Staff, residents, relatives and the local community came together at Canmore Lodge to enjoy a Spring Fling that was held in the home’s grounds Canmore Lodge hosted a variety of activities throughout the day, including a BBQ, small stalls including a resident’s creation stall, live entertainment, which were enjoyed by everyone who came to the event.
Staff at Canmore Lodge made everyone feel welcome and were delighted to see different generations having fun together. Visitors enjoyed plenty of refreshments and food prepared by the catering team, who were hard at work making sure that a great time was had by all – it really was a team effort!

Good Luck, Jane!
