Activities at Canmore Lodge Care Home
Our Activities Coordinators are committed to organising a variety of events as well as offering tailored programmes to stimulate residents both mentally and physically. There are regular outings in the minibus to local places of interest, such as trips to the beach for ice cream, pub visits for a pint, and regular trips to Dobbies for tea and cakes. Georgie Girl, an old English sheep dog, also stops by the home on regular basis for pet therapy. Musical entertainment is a big hit with residents as well, so we book fan favourites to come and play at the home each month. At Canmore, relatives are always encouraged to join in on the fun too.

Life at Canmore Lodge Care Home
Balloyman Community Café
Thank you too Balloyman Primary School and Nursery for inviting residents at Canmore to come along to your French themed café! our residents had an amazing time and being able to enjoy all the sweet treats and see all that the children had created at stalls as well. It's always a pleasure for our residents to be able to come along and get out in the community as they still get to do the things they love and celebrate all the things that the little one's have taken the time to make.
Ceramic Cafe
Our resident came along to enjoy a relaxing painting session at the Ceramic Café in Dunfermline and absolutely loved it! They painted lots of cute figurines that they were delighted to take home with them. The ceramic café is a lovely quite place to unwind and let your imagination run free, which some of our artistic residents really appreciate!
Into the deep....
Residents across our services enjoyed a fantastic virtual tour of The Deep, an award-winning aquarium in Hull.
Our residents dived into the underwater world of some fascinating creatures such as sharks, turtles and stingrays.
It was a truly immersive and educational experience that brought the wonders of the ocean right to our screens.
Home raises funds for Charitable Foundation
Residents and staff put the ‘fun’ into ‘fundraising’ with a charity bake sale to raise money for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation.
Kimberley Laird, Commercial Manager at Canmore Lodge said: “We love to fundraise for charities throughout the year, we pick different causes to support that have been selected by staff, residents and friends of the home. Barchester’s Charitable Foundation is a great cause that helps many people in need is also a cause very close to the hearts of all our staff and residents, so we feel really proud to have been able to raise this money. Thank you to everyone who donated!”
Jewellery Making
Residents were joined by the lovely Hazel here in the home who hosted a jewellery workshop. There were so many choices of beads and accessories on offer and the residents were able to be as creative as possible in their designs. There were some beautiful bracelets at the end and a great time was had by all.
Vintage Bus Museumn
Residents at Canmore Lodge enjoyed a fun filled day out at the vintage bus museum.
It was lovely to see our residents take a trip down memory lane as they got to see and explore the many varieties of coaches on display. To finish the day off the residents got a chance to sit in the driver’s seat.
