Activities at Canmore Lodge Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators are committed to organising a variety of events as well as offering tailored programmes to stimulate residents both mentally and physically. There are regular outings in the minibus to local places of interest, such as trips to the beach for ice cream, pub visits for a pint, and regular trips to Dobbies for tea and cakes. Georgie Girl, an old English sheep dog, also stops by the home on regular basis for pet therapy. Musical entertainment is a big hit with residents as well, so we book fan favourites to come and play at the home each month. At Canmore, relatives are always encouraged to join in on the fun too.

Life at Canmore Lodge Care Home

Canmore Olympics

Canmore held their own Olympics this year to celebrate the 2024 Olympic games in France, with some fun games and a little friendly competition. Had some fun little cardboard cut-outs as well, which the residents really enjoyed! We played bowling, “beer” pong and the residents had an absolute blast!

Canmore's car boot sale

Canmore had their first ever car boot sale on the 3rd of August! It was a blast. Our residents enjoyed themselves, and everyone enjoyed the good weather and a bit of food as well. Next year our Car Boot Sale will be bigger and better than ever! So keep your eyes peeled for next time. Thanks to the staff that came along to help make the day better! We appreciate the effort you guys put in, into making it a fun day for our residents!

Pet therapy!

The residents at Canmore had another wee visit from the gorgeous Poppy, thank you so much Brian, who works as a volunteer at Carid Pet Therapy for a lovely afternoon.

The residents enjoyed lovely cuddles as she pottered around enjoying the attention. Pet therapy creates a sense of calm and a sense of purpose for our residents.

Homes join 100th virtual event

Barchester care homes and hospitals nationwide linked together for a fantastic quiz in celebration of Barchester’s 100th live virtual event.

Residents engaged in a variety of questions ranging from historical trivia to visual puzzles and brainteasers.

For those joining everyone had a fantastic time and enjoyed some friendly competition.

Shiremills Therapy Riding Centre

Some of our residents yesterday had an amazing time seeing some of the beautiful horses at Shiremills! Petting them and giving them a wee brush.

Of course! a cup of tea and a biscuit is necessary.

Yoga with Yvonne

The residents at Canmore Lodge enjoyed a great session of Yoga with the lovely Yvonne. Yvonne’s session was mostly focused on upper body movements. Lower neck, shoulders and off course lower back giving our muscles a good stretch as well as our spine and not forgetting our breathing exercises whilst working our body muscles.

Thank you so much to Yvonne for keeping our residents moving and stretching so important for body and soul.
