Activities at The Cedars Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Lorraine Mounter
Hello. My name is Lorraine and I love working with the residents at Cedars. I started as a carer and then joined the activities team. I love crafting and so this job is ideal as I can look after the residents, whilst we have fun, laughter and create new things together. I find it very rewarding to see the residents happy, smiling and enjoying their day.
In my spare time I enjoy reading, gardening and crafting. I also have a horse and I look after my granddaughter.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at The Cedars Care Home

Breakfast Al Fresco
Making the most of the last of the sunshine in our beautiful gardens. Breakfast Al Fresco was the order of the day.

Off to the Pub
Out and about on a Friday, a trip to Landford singing group this morning and to The Cuckoo Inn Hamptworth for a shandy and a packet of crisps, in the sunshine, this afternoon.

Team Dance Off with the Residents Judging
In Westside story it’s the Sharks and the Jets that have a dance off.
On Wednesday at Cedars it was the Purple Housekeeping Team against the Green Carers Team.
Not sure who won but everyone had fun!
The residents were enjoying a spin on the dance floor, singing along or toe tapping away.

Last night at the Proms
Watching the last night of the Proms with a G&T or a glass of wine. Residents remarked; “It’s lovely to see, hear and feel the music with our friends, thank you for a super evening, it was most enjoyable.”
Sam Humphries, Cedars General Manager commented “When our residents want to do something, the team step up and make it happen; I am really pleased everyone had a wonderful evening.”

Atmospheric Afternoon
What better way to while away the afternoon .............. our residents enjoyed a romantic and memory provoking saxophone recital performance by the very talented Hannah Spires Music

A Day at the Races
We had the pleasure of fulfilling David's wish with a day out at Salisbury Races. David is a much loved resident here at Cedars. He's always been a racing fan and mentioned his passion for the horses to our activity coordinator Angela.
A plan was made and the date set. The race cards were studied on the days leading up to the event, much discussion on the horse's form took place and favourites were picked.
David was accompanied by his wife, daughters, Angela and Lisa our home Administrator along with her daughter. A real family affair.
The sun was shining and it was agreed that it was a wonderful day.
We are passionate about enabling our residents to continue with their hobbies and interests or indeed take up new ones.
