Activities at Cepen Lodge Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Life at Cepen Lodge Care Home

National Bird Day

The residents really enjoyed making bird feeders for National Bird Day they made a feast for the birds using bird seed, Lard and Cheese as a treat to keep the birds well fed in these winter months. They have been hung up in the garden so the residents can see the birds coming to have the lovely treats and if we are lucky we will see some more unusual birds.

Resident receive Covid vaccinations

Here at Cepen Lodge we are delighted that the Residents and staff had the COVID-19 Vaccination given by Hathaway Surgery in Chippenham, it has really uplifted everyone spirits after what has been a very challenging time and it feels like a light at the end of the tunnel. All looking forward to the day we can have visitors back into Cepen Lodge.

Christmas Day

We started of Christmas Day with a glass of Bucks Fizz and opening all the lovely gifts residents had received, it was really nice to be with them and see their faces when they got a gift they loved. Then it was on to Christmas Dinner with all the trimmings which looked delicious, Queens speech at 3pm and a film to fall asleep to. Some of the staff dressed up in their festive outfits which made us all smile and they looked fantastic. Through the day Residents got to see their families in our Visiting Suite and some had a Skype call which made the residents Christmas.

St Andrew's Day

We made a lovely flock of Scottish sheep on St Andrew's Day. Tesidents really loved making them and everyone thought they were very cute, and we have made a lovely display of them. We also had some Scottish music playing and chatted about Scotland and where we had visited and different parts of Scotland we would like to visit; and the Scottish residents were telling us what it was like to grow up in Scotland.

Christmas Jumper Day

Every year, Cepen Lodge supports Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day. We can’t wait to put our Christmas jumpers on and raise some money for a good cause. We decided to have a fun competition this year and see how many Christmas jumpers a resident or carer could put on in 1 minute. It caused a lot of laughter and it was one of the carers who won with 7 jumpers!

Christmas Pantomime

This event was a big success and plans are already being made for next year already. Residents really enjoyed it and te mesmerised by our costumes. We are planning on setting up our own drama group in the New Year for residents and staff to come along and have some fun.
