Activities at Cepen Lodge Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Celebrating a combined 25 years Service

At the end of 2025 our home celebrated two members of staff receiving their prestigious Long Service Awards.

Care Assistant; Tracey has worked for 15 years with residents and their relatives to ensure that their needs are always met, and Audrey reached her 10 years providing the same exceptional care.

Jade Hodge, General Manager said: “We’re delighted to be celebrating a combined 25 years loyal service with Tracey and Audrey. They have both demonstrated their dedication and loyalty to this home and its residents year after year. I speak for all of us here at Cepen Lodge when I say that I’m looking forward to many more years of working with them.”

Jenga Joy!

The wonderful students of Hardenhuish School had fun playing Jenga with our residents. Brick by brick the tension increased as each tried to avoid the tower tumbling down!

Jenga is a game of physical skill that supports hand-eye coordination and decision making, old and young thoroughly enjoyed playing together.

Woolly Gifts from Mrs Candy Cane

Over the Christmas period we were visited by the amazing knitter Myrtle, and her friend Bob; both new friends our residents have made when attending the Chippenham Community Hub. It was a delight to see them and they came baring gifts; adorable hand crafted in woolly Hedgehogs for our Memory Lane community.

Myrtle arrived in her fabulous hand knitted Christmas Candy Cane outfit to brighten our resident’s day with her basketed ‘prickle of soft and squishy hedgehogs’ to handout and bring smiles to everyone’s face.

What a wonderful act of kindness, we thank you so much for visiting and gifting such a thoughtful keepsake

Sweet Pony Brings Delight

Every resident within the Cepen Lodge communities had the chance to meet 'Vino' the dapple gray therapy horse from Happy Hooves Equine Ltd - Equine Assisted Therapy.

Vino the American miniature pony gravitates to people living with dementia. He's so gentle, happy to snuggle-in and be stroked, his visit with handler Laura made our residents day truly special.

All animals are special, but at Christmas time this little visitor brought an extra helping of wonderment and festive magic.

Christmas Wreath-Making

Anita provided all our residents needed to craft their very own Christmas wreaths — each one bursting with colour, personality, and Christmas spirit.

This festive activity boosted creativity, encouraged social connection, stimulated cognitive activity, and enhanced overall wellbeing for our residents.

The wreaths looked stunning and our creative ladies had such fun making them.

Happy 90th Birthday 'Ian'

This week we helped resident Ian celebrate his 90th birthday. The sparklers on Ian’s luscious birthday cake lite the room with joy almost as much as Ian face lite up when he held his great great grandson the super smiley; Thomas Arthur!

Happy birthday Ian from all at Cepen Lodge.

What more of a boost to start the year on a positive note could our care team receive than a personal message of thanks from the residents and family members.

These beautiful notes mean so very much to all the staff at Cepen Lodge, caring for you all is an honour and privilege.

Happy New Year, let’s keep smiling, laughing and generally enjoying life together throughout 2026

Terrific Tony Entertains at Christmas Party

On the 23rd December we held our homes’ Christmas Party with entertainment from the fabulous singer Tony Meacock.

He has a knack of getting the whole room singing, swinging and swaying to his rhythmic tunes. It was such fun before we settled down to enjoy a wonderful festive buffet prepared by our super chefs!

Beautiful Messages from School Connections

We're so fortunate to have made a strong connection with the students at Hardenhuish School. Small groups join and interact with our residents twice a week, sharing stories and generally having fun.

This week Ethan, Bertie and Nicky took time to chat to our oldest resident Melvina. She was absolutely delighted to meet them all and thrilled they each wrote her a little note.

Our Activities Coordinator, Anita surprised our residents with a visit from the best, and most well-behaved Santa of all... their four-legged friend, the fabulous 'Freddie'! He's such a cutie, happy to be fussed and fed dog treats all day.

Thank you Anita and Freddie for making our day and even brighter.

Tinsel and Turkey Special Lunch

‘Tis the season to be jolly as we got in the Christmas spirit today whilst hosting a special Christmas lunch for Veteran’s from across the local community, and within the home.

Cepen Lodge’s ‘Tinsel and Turkey’ Veteran’s Christmas party was in full swing from start to finish. Guests and residents enjoyed a festive feast prepared by the home’s chef and hospitality team, starting with freshly made Tomato and Basil soup, Roast turkey dinner with all the trimmings, and traditional strawberry trifle to finish.

Following the meal everyone retired to the homes lounge to be entertained by Cheltenham-based singer/songwriter; D'Artagnan who had us all jingling our sleigh bells with a selection of Christmas classics we could all sing and dance along to!

General Manager, Jade Hodge said: “Christmas really is the most wonderful time of the year and extending our hospitality to all the amazing veterans in the area gave us the opportunity to spread our homes’ Christmas cheer. It was wonderful to see our residents break-bread with guests from the Chippenham Royal British Legion, HealthHero Integrated Care and many British Forces veterans and volunteers.”

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the lunch and afternoon so very special.

Fete Full of Festive Fun

It was smiles all round as staff, residents, relatives and the local community came together on Saturday to enjoy a wonderful Christmas Fete. There were all kinds of stalls on offer for guests to browse including Sue's Crafts, Poppy's Hand-Made Jewellery and fabulous food fancies by E&Js Bakery.

We had fun singing to Christmas songs, playing games and drinking mulled wine as we ate festive treats. The raffle was a big hit alongside Santa's visit. The jolly chappie met with everyone to check their status on his 'good & naughty' list!

The team at Cepen Lodge would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who either manned a stall, donated a raffle prize or who came along to support the home.
