Activities at Cepen Lodge Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Cepen Lodge Residents Compete in the Wiltshire Senior Games
What an amazing day today for Cepen Lodge residents as they took part in the Wiltshire inaugural Senior Games. This was the culmination of the 12 week "Love to Move" programme which the residents have so enjoyed and the activities team will continue to follow. The programme was in partnership with WASP (Wiltshire & Swindon Sport) and Public Health Wiltshire arranged the event. This was an opportunity for the care homes who have taken part to compete for the Wiltshire Senior Games trophy.
The Senior Games were held at Abbeyfield School in Chippenham and we must thank the fabulous students who ran each event, setting up and scoring. They really entered into the spirit of the day chatting to residents. The day was introduced by Councillor Ian Blair-Pilling followed by a warm up by Jane who has been visiting the homes weekly to run the classes. The residents all knew the routines to classics like The Lambeth Walk. The main event saw residents competing in a range of activities, congratulations to Mona, Brian, Wendy, John, May, Margaret, Jean, Tony, Keith and Stan for taking part and a special mention to Joy, Stan's wife of 67 years who joined in as well. It was Stan who topped the Cepen Lodge team by winning the Javelin. We didn't win the trophy but the residents really did give it their all. Cepen Lodge also featured on BBC Radio Wiltshire on the morning of the event.
Grow Your Own!
The Cepen Lodge gardening club always have plenty to do we have been planting the seeds we've grown - onions, radish, beetroots and carrots! We can't wait to start harvesting them for our lunch. Our head of maintenance Steve joined us today, who has done such a brilliant job with our garden, and built our wonderful raised planter for us.
