Activities at Chacombe Park Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Heather Gooch
My name is Heather and I am the Head of Activities here at Chacombe Park. My role is to ensure that all residents are supported in enjoying hobbies and events that enrich their life.
I have a Bachelors degree in Theatre Performance, as well as a PGCE in Secondary Drama. I have previously worked for another Barchester home back in 2012 before working as a secondary school teacher, teaching Drama at both GCSE and A Level. I have a passion for person centred care, which has come from my love of pastoral work during my time as a teacher. I want each resident to feel appreciated and supported to enjoy the skills/hobbies that they have treasured before their time at Chacombe.
In my spare time I enjoy singing, cross stitch and learning new skills. I endeavour to bring these hobbies and passions into my role here at Chacombe, as well as learn some new skills from the vast range of knowledge that our residents can bring!

Ardley and Fewcott Gardening Club
Receiving the £1,473 donation brought pure joy to the Ardley and Fewcott Gardening Club, ensuring a positive impact. The generosity of this contribution resonated deeply, showcasing the kindness and spirit of togetherness. It's heartening to see the community thriving through acts of generosity. The funds promise to make a real difference, fostering a sense of unity and support. In these simple yet profound gestures, the community finds strength, proving that collective goodwill has the power to create positive ripples that touch the hearts of all involved.
Champagne enterprises
Champagne Enterprises, the entertainer, filled the room with their lovely voice, bringing immense joy to residents. Smiles lit up faces as they happily sang along, creating an atmosphere of pure delight. The shared moments of music and made it a day to remember, uplifting spirits and encouragement a sense of happiness. The simple pleasure of singing along with the talented entertainer turned an ordinary day into an extraordinary one for the residents, leaving them with hearts full of joy and gratitude.
Bonfire Night
Bonfire night dazzled residents as they gathered in the garden, captivated by the colourful fireworks painting the night sky. The shared excitement brought residents and outsiders together, enjoying the spectacle. With refreshments in hand, laughter echoed as they marvelled at the bursts of light. The warmth of community and the vibrant display created an unforgettable night. The joy shared among residents and newfound friends under the illuminated sky made it a truly amazing and heart-warming experience, leaving everyone with cherished memories of a night filled with laughter, and the magic of fireworks.
Joy in Farnborough Garden centre
The Farnborough garden centre enchanted residents with its beauty, creating a delightful day. They strolled through the lovely gardens, sipping on refreshing drinks and enjoying tasty snacks. The vibrant colours and fragrant blooms uplifted their spirits, making it a joyous experience. With each step, the coolness of the garden and the simple pleasures of a cup of goodness made their day memorable, leaving them with smiles that echoed the beauty surrounding them.
Banbury Fun Fair
Residents had a blast at the Banbury fun fair, playing games and challenging each other. The joyous atmosphere filled with laughter heightened as they savoured delicious donuts. Excitement peaked during the duck-catching games, and the cheers echoed when prizes were won. The simple pleasures of the fair created a day full of happiness, making it a delightful experience that truly brightened their spirits.
Spooktacular Halloween Celebration!
Residents immersed themselves in Halloween festivities, carving pumpkins and revelling in the artistic process. Our chef's delectable cakes and snacks added a sweet touch, enhancing the joyous atmosphere. Engaged in lively conversations, residents shared laughter while adorning the floor with festive decorations. The day unfolded as a harmonious blend of creativity, culinary delights, and shared moments, leaving a trail of smiles and contentment among everyone involved.
