Activities at Chalfont Lodge Care Home

Chalfont Lodge is a large care home and we have a diverse range of groups and events to ensure that everyone feels welcome and included. In the Lifestyle team we work hard to create a sense of community and ensure there is always someone to talk to and something to do.

Our residents help us to plan the monthly lifestyle programme, making sure that everyone has something they like, enabling people to keep up with life long hobbies or pick up new ones. We have long term projects like our summer parties, car shows, BBQs, craft fairs, Christmas shows to mention a few and residents can be as involved as they would like in all stages of the planning or just come along and enjoy on the day.

We love going out on trips, to lunch, shopping or to socialise with other local groups, we also have many people who come into visit us with church services, music, talks and support for our bigger events.

We have a fantastic team of staff and every department is involved in making sure our residents get the most out of living here. We have a brilliant music therapist who works her magic 3 days a week, running group and individual sessions. Our Physiotherapy team keep everyone fit and active, working with us to make sure everyone has access to sports and team games.

We have a full programme groups, events and clubs but none of it would be possible without our residents and their families, we all work together to make this a home from home and to keep laughter and friendship at the heart of what we do.

Hello, I’m Alex the Activities Lead at Chalfont Lodge, working with me is Louise Doyle. I've worked at Chalfont Lodge for 8 years now. I originally started off as a volunteer and fell in love with the residents, families and staff. Since then, I've been an Activity assist, Activity Coordinator and now the head of the department! Activities are my passion and I love creating an environment where all of the residents can thrive and do what they love!

Sports Day

Thank you to all the residents, families and staff that laced up their trainers and took part in our annual sports day. Staff and residents took part in the egg and spoon, sack, relay and obstacle races as guests cheered on.

The teams battled it out to be crowned sporting champions with beautiful rosettes before being treated to a BBQ of hot dogs and burgers. Many thanks to our wonderful Physio team who made the day such a success!

Volunteers' Week

Volunteers' Week

Volunteers at Chalfont Lodge in Chalfont St. Peter were given a special thank you lunch, as a token of appreciation for all of their hard work during Volunteers' week. Twenty-five people attended the lunch celebration and were presented with a buffet spread of panini, quiches, a delicious cheese selection, and a variety of cakes and sweet treats. Everyone at Chalfont Lodge appreciated the volunteers and their time spent at the home. Each attendee was issued a certificate of appreciation and was personally thanked for their contributions to the home community.

The Chalfont Flower Festival

Chalfont Lodge got floral this week when volunteers from the local community stopped in to help residents make spring and wildlife-themed displays for our very own flower festival.

The Chalfont Flower Festival, which took place on the 18th May, was created to bring spring inspiration into the home with beautiful flowers, plants and colours. One of the volunteers—Ann from Chalfont St Peter Church—showed everyone how to create flower displays.

As a way to say thank you for all their help, the team at Chalfont donated over £100 to the Church’s flower fund.

Leading up to the show, residents were able to choose their favourite flowers, colours and props for the displays. Some of the inspirations included Woodland, Beatrix Potter, Farmer’s Allotments, Butterflies, and Wind in the Willows.

International Nurses Day

International Nurses Day

We hosted a tea party for the occasion to celebrate International Nurses Day with cakes from around the world, and our Resident Ambassador, Brian, gave out certificates to nurses as a token of appreciation, saying: "You have chosen a career few people can handle. We thank you all for your passion in carrying out your duties and elevating your profession to greater standards."
