Activities at Chalfont Lodge Care Home

Chalfont Lodge is a large care home and we have a diverse range of groups and events to ensure that everyone feels welcome and included. In the Lifestyle team we work hard to create a sense of community and ensure there is always someone to talk to and something to do.

Our residents help us to plan the monthly lifestyle programme, making sure that everyone has something they like, enabling people to keep up with life long hobbies or pick up new ones. We have long term projects like our summer parties, car shows, BBQs, craft fairs, Christmas shows to mention a few and residents can be as involved as they would like in all stages of the planning or just come along and enjoy on the day.

We love going out on trips, to lunch, shopping or to socialise with other local groups, we also have many people who come into visit us with church services, music, talks and support for our bigger events.

We have a fantastic team of staff and every department is involved in making sure our residents get the most out of living here. We have a brilliant music therapist who works her magic 3 days a week, running group and individual sessions. Our Physiotherapy team keep everyone fit and active, working with us to make sure everyone has access to sports and team games.

We have a full programme groups, events and clubs but none of it would be possible without our residents and their families, we all work together to make this a home from home and to keep laughter and friendship at the heart of what we do.

Hello, I’m Alex the Activities Lead at Chalfont Lodge, working with me is Louise Doyle. I've worked at Chalfont Lodge for 8 years now. I originally started off as a volunteer and fell in love with the residents, families and staff. Since then, I've been an Activity assist, Activity Coordinator and now the head of the department! Activities are my passion and I love creating an environment where all of the residents can thrive and do what they love!

Art Exhibition

Art Exhibition

Chalfont Lodge celebrated residents and visitors' artistic talents by holding an art exhibition on the 6th April.

The artworks were produced in weekly still life classes, which have been running since the start of the year. The works displayed were carefully selected out of the vast amount of work produced over this time. The classes have been focused not only on light and form, but also on building relationships between members of the community and increasing confidence.

Flower Demonstrations

Flower Demonstrations

Our lovely friend, Ann, from Saint Peter's Church in Chalfont volunteered to show us how to make some wonderful flower arrangements, including table and pedestal decorations in preparation for our upcoming Flower Festival.

We all learnt something new as we chatted about all of our favourite flowers, smells and even tips to keep them looking bright and fresh for as long as possible. Thank you so much, Ann, the blushing pink is perfect for decorating our home just in time for Mothering Sunday.

St David's Day

St David's Day

On St David’s Day we had a lovely supper in our Lakeside Restaurant. The food was delicious, with all three courses being Wales-themed. It was great fun, and we even had some Welsh whisky to round off the evening.

Following this success, we are making plans for our St George's Day Supper on 23rd April. If you would like to come along, please give us a ca;; on 01753 888002.

Sharing a Little Love

Sharing a Little Love

We have been blessed to have built up many good friendships here at Chalfont Lodge, and residents wanted to show their appreciation for some of the people who visit us regularly. This includes our friends from Goldhill Baptist Church, who held a service at the weekend and gave a card and a red or yellow rose to every resident who attended. As a thank you, residents handed out boxes of biscuits as a little token of appreciation for the friendship and joy our church members bring to the community.

Being Valentine’s Day, we were fortunate enough to have a choir serenade us. Again, as a thank you for their time and effort, we donated a box of biscuits and a card. The gents looked so dapper that some of the ladies wanted to have a picture taken with them.

Tate Modern

We had an adventurous trip out on 3rd February, when we visited the Tate Modern. Max, a member of the activities team, has been giving weekly talks about art. So far, we have learnt about Monet, Renoir & Lowry, Hokusai & Art Nouveau & Turner. Inspired by this, we decided to go & see some of the originals. We had an amazing day and will definitely be going again.
