Activities at Chalfont Lodge Care Home

Chalfont Lodge is a large care home and we have a diverse range of groups and events to ensure that everyone feels welcome and included. In the Lifestyle team we work hard to create a sense of community and ensure there is always someone to talk to and something to do.

Our residents help us to plan the monthly lifestyle programme, making sure that everyone has something they like, enabling people to keep up with life long hobbies or pick up new ones. We have long term projects like our summer parties, car shows, BBQs, craft fairs, Christmas shows to mention a few and residents can be as involved as they would like in all stages of the planning or just come along and enjoy on the day.

We love going out on trips, to lunch, shopping or to socialise with other local groups, we also have many people who come into visit us with church services, music, talks and support for our bigger events.

We have a fantastic team of staff and every department is involved in making sure our residents get the most out of living here. We have a brilliant music therapist who works her magic 3 days a week, running group and individual sessions. Our Physiotherapy team keep everyone fit and active, working with us to make sure everyone has access to sports and team games.

We have a full programme groups, events and clubs but none of it would be possible without our residents and their families, we all work together to make this a home from home and to keep laughter and friendship at the heart of what we do.

Hello, I’m Alex the Activities Lead at Chalfont Lodge, working with me is Louise Doyle. I've worked at Chalfont Lodge for 8 years now. I originally started off as a volunteer and fell in love with the residents, families and staff. Since then, I've been an Activity assist, Activity Coordinator and now the head of the department! Feast of St Peter Christmas Fun Night

The Christmas Fun Night in Chalfont St Peter is a longstanding tradition in the village with the Market Place closed and stalls set up all along the High Street.

Chalfont Lodge was delighted to join other charities, community groups and businesses with a stall selling raffle tickets to support a local family with specialist equipment for their daughter and Christmas cards drawn and painted by residents during our Fine Art Classes. We spoke to visitors about the activities in the home including Don't Dine Alone at Christmas, the Community Choir and the Fine Art Classes which are all open for non residents to attend free of charge.

For more details please call the home on 01753 888 002 or email Chalfont.reception@barchester.com

Big thank you to the organisers for arranging the event, local police, including Matt in our photo, for ensuring everyone's safety and the locals shops and businesses giving away food and drink to all their customers. We look forward to seeing you all again at the summer Feast Day!

Christmas cards designed by Chalfont Lodge residents

Art classes are very popular with residents at Chalfont Lodge and weekly sessions are an opportunity for respite residents to return for the classes after they have gone home at no cost! In response to requests from residents for more personal Christmas cards this year, Alex Perkins our Activity Coordinator came up with the idea of printing the beautifully sketched and painted cards for visitors to buy directly from the home reception and raise money for charity.

Cards will also be available at the Christmas Fun Night in Chalfont St Peter on Friday 6th December when the Market Place will be closed to traffic and stalls in the street in addition to all the shops and businesses staying open till late. Come and meet the team on the Chalfont Lodge stall, find out about all our community events open for non-residents. The event officially starts at 6pm – we look forward to seeing you

It’s all coming up Tulips at Chalfont Lodge Care Centre!

Residents are enjoying the colourful new designs on the walls in the Memory Lane community at Chalfont Lodge. Chris and the maintenance team spent the day installing the new murals to give a spring like feel to the hallways, watched by residents who ensured the job was completed to their high standards.

It maybe wet and wintery outside, inside we have a lovely bright community for residents living with memory loss at Chalfont Lodge Care Centre, pop in to see for yourself, everyone will be made very welcome, just don't walk on the grass!

Bewitching Tricks and Spooky Treats at Chalfont Lodge

Chalfont Lodge Care Centre was a den of ghoulish activity as the home’s spooky Halloween party got in to full swing.

Staff, residents and guests got in to the spirit of things with the in house Physiotherapy team promoting morning exercise for all physical abilities, proving rehabilitation can be fun when everyone gets into character!

General Manager, Raj Boodhoo cackled: “Our residents and staff love an opportunity to dress up and what better time of the year to do this than Halloween? We’ve had a whole range of tricks and treats for the people that live here and their guests today and we have all really enjoyed every moment of it!”

George, resident at Chalfont Lodge Care Centre said: “It has been a fun day. It was wonderful to see everyone go to so much effort to get in spirit. I really enjoyed seeing Maryia, one of the physio team dressed up as a witch and looked very realistic! ”
