Activities at Chalfont Lodge Care Home
Chalfont Lodge is a large care home and we have a diverse range of groups and events to ensure that everyone feels welcome and included. In the Lifestyle team we work hard to create a sense of community and ensure there is always someone to talk to and something to do.
Our residents help us to plan the monthly lifestyle programme, making sure that everyone has something they like, enabling people to keep up with life long hobbies or pick up new ones. We have long term projects like our summer parties, car shows, BBQs, craft fairs, Christmas shows to mention a few and residents can be as involved as they would like in all stages of the planning or just come along and enjoy on the day.
We love going out on trips, to lunch, shopping or to socialise with other local groups, we also have many people who come into visit us with church services, music, talks and support for our bigger events.
We have a fantastic team of staff and every department is involved in making sure our residents get the most out of living here. We have a brilliant music therapist who works her magic 3 days a week, running group and individual sessions. Our Physiotherapy team keep everyone fit and active, working with us to make sure everyone has access to sports and team games.
We have a full programme groups, events and clubs but none of it would be possible without our residents and their families, we all work together to make this a home from home and to keep laughter and friendship at the heart of what we do.

Life at Chalfont Lodge Care Home
Chalfont Lodge Care Centre staff delighted with colourful handmade scrubs!
Staff at Chalfont Lodge Care Centre, in Chalfont St Peter recently received colourful sets of scrubs generously donated by Sew Grateful Bucks, a team of sewing volunteers. A group of local residents from Gerrards Cross and The Chalfonts have put their amazing sewing skills to good use, devoting their time to making scrubs for keyworkers in the NHS and nursing homes.
Debi is one of the ‘Sew Grateful’ team. A former clothing technologist for more than 35 years with Marks & Spencer, she has used her textile industry contacts to help source the fabrics and patterns. The colorful donations to Chalfont Lodge have been a great talking point between the residents and staff in the Memory Lane community and helped keep everyone smiling.
Raj Boodhoo, General Manager at Chalfont Lodge Care Centre said: “In these unprecedented times, the kindness and generosity of the community to all our hardworking carers, nurses and support staff has been amazing, and we hope that these new friendships will continue beyond the current situation. We are so grateful to everyone who has made them for the team”.
We are playing our part in the wider care sector and supporting the NHS where possible. We are currently still taking admissions into our care home for those that need care in the next 4 weeks, so please do give us a call on 01753 888002 if you are looking for care or need any further help.
Chalfont Lodge residents mark the 75th Anniversary of VE Day
Chalfont Lodge in Chalfont St Peter celebrated VE Day, with a small garden party, to commemorate 75 years since the end of the Second World War.
Staff and residents at Chalfont Lodge Care Centre along with people all over the UK, joined together for the ‘Nation’s Toast to the Heroes of WW2’. In light of the current situation, rather than celebrating with street parties, at 3pm on May 8th, the country was encouraged to mark the day with a nationwide toast - “To those who gave so much, we thank you”. Paying tribute to the many millions at home and abroad, that sacrificed so much to ensure we all enjoy and share the freedom we have today.
Residents also celebrated the occasion by enjoying the sunshine on the terrace overlooking the lake and tucked into a delicious selection of homemade tea and cakes.
Raj Boodhoo, General Manager at Chalfont Lodge Care Centre said: “Many of our residents have very clear memories of the Second World War, and reminisced about their experiences, so it’s a privilege to remember and celebrate with them. We had a lovely day, and we are making sure extra effort is focused on creating an enjoyable environment for all of our residents, whilst ensuring that the group activities are smaller, adhering to social distancing advice.”

Our beautiful terrace gets a makeover!
Darren and Chris have been busy preparing the terrace for residents to enjoy over the summer months giving all the decking and woodwork a makeover. Residents come out every day to supervise and offer words of encouragement – I think some cold refreshments helped the job along during the afternoon as the weather warmed up.
With the work almost complete, our resident John took time to enjoy the view over the lake to watch the fish, with the trees providing the perfect place for the birds to perch. We all enjoyed their bird song in the sunshine!
Chalfont Lodge staff delighted with 'Bags of Love' gift
Staff at Chalfont Lodge Care Centre, in Chalfont St Peter recently received two hundred colourful washable bags generously donated by Jenny Irvine’s team of sewing volunteers in the local community. Jenny’s team have made over 5000 drawstring bags over the last few weeks for the NHS to enable staff to take after their uniforms safely home at the end of their working day.
Travelling to and from work out of uniform is part of the new protective measures for all healthcare workers in hospitals and care settings together with washing work uniforms at 60 degrees separate from other household laundry. The laundry bags enable staff to transport their uniforms home safely and wash without unpacking.
Raj Boodhoo, General Manager at Chalfont Lodge Care Centre said: “In these unprecedented times, the kindness and generosity of the community to all our hardworking carers, nurses and support staff has been amazing, and we hope that these new friendships will continue beyond the current situation. The team have already chosen their favourites bags so we all want to say a really big thank you to Jenny and her team”.
Jenny Irvine, who has a curtain making business in Stoke Poges, aptly named Hung Drawn and Pleated heard from a friend at Wexham Hospital NHS staff were taking uniforms home after their shifts without proper bags. Local residents donated fabric and funding to support her efforts for NHS staff and now extended the gifts to local care homes.
Chalfont Lodge care centre is run by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest care providers, which is committed to delivering high-quality care across its care homes and hospitals. Chalfont Lodge Care Centre provides residential, nursing and dedicated dementia care for 106 residents.
