Activities at Chater Lodge Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Maria Durrant

Activities Coordinator

Hello. I am Maria and I have lived in Ketton for most of my life. I worked at the local primary school before joining Chater Lodge in 2019. My first role here was as a Dining Host and have now found my passion in creating an interesting and inclusive programme of activities for all our residents. I like having fun with residents, dressing up, singing songs and celebrating special events. I love being a part of the team here and my career change to Activities Coordinator is the best thing I have ever done.

Life at Chater Lodge Care Home

A pamper session for Phyllis

This is Phyllis. Phyllis loves to have her nails done and a gentle hand massage. She enjoys her person centred activity and loves to chat about her day. Phyllis always likes to look her best and is very proud respectable lady who likes her esteem needs met. Phyllis enjoys the relaxing atmosphere and the tranquil music’ and the aromas from the essential oils.

Burn's Night

Resident’s celebrated Burn’s Night celebrations with a themed menu which included Haggis neaps and tatties all washed down with a wee dram of whiskey.

Resident’s watched the haggis get piped in by the piper and watched him address the haggis, he then went around the home to all residents even the ones in their rooms.

In the afternoon the residents enjoyed the Highland dancers that came to entertain them, It was fascinating to watching and thoroughly enjoyed by all residents especially the residents that have family in Scotland.

,

A visit from Steve Carmel

Residents here at Chater lodge had a fantastic afternoon of live entertainment. We were joined by Steve Carmel, our resident's favourite singer. Steve had everyone up dancing, and playing instruments. We all had a great afternoon.

,

International Cheese Lover's Day

Our residents have had a lovely afternoon enjoying International Cheese Lovers day with a selection of cheeses from around the world, prepared by the kitchen team.

Happy 65th Wedding Anniversary!

A resident’s husband wanted to surprise his wife on their 65th wedding anniversary, so, the staff here at Chater Lodge, along with their family, helped organise an afternoon tea as a surprise treat. They had a wonderful afternoon celebrating! Happy Anniversy!

Royal Parks London

Across our services our residents have enjoyed a wonderful live virtual talk about starlings, one of the UK’s most gregarious birds, hosted by Rachel Dowse from The Royal Parks London.

Rachel examined our long history with this bird and the importance of common species to our lives. Our residents had the opportunity to find out more about the great murmuration and why we need to pay special attention to these beauties before it's too late.

The virtual experience was truly enjoyed by all.
