Activities at Cheshire Grange Care Home
The activities team are constantly striving to meet the varied needs of everyone who lives in our home, offering a wide range of group and individual social events. There are regular visits from entertainers, along with craft activities, baking, games & puzzle days and pampering sessions, which fill the week. However, we can always find time for outings and just spending that little bit of special time with residents who enjoy the peace and quiet. We aim to bring the activities to the individual, whilst making it a whole home experience.
Jo Eland
After originally starting at Cheshire Grange in May 2015, I'm delighted to be back in the role of Activities Coordinator. It is a privilege to be in this role and spend time, getting to know our ladies and gentleman and their loved one, whilst doing all the fun things that can make such a difference to their days.

Life at Cheshire Grange Care Home
Words to the Wise
We put some questions to our residents, all starting with 'What would you advise the young people today...'. We left some of these open-ended, and it turned out that most of our residents thought education was very important. We also asked specifics about travel, falling in love and money. We learnt not to live beyond our means, embrace family love and to smile & laugh often.
Music for Health
There were smiles a plenty on our Memory Lane Community as Helen from Music 4 Health had the ladies and gents, singing, shaking instruments and even doing The Sailors Hornpipe Dance along with some moments of quiet reflection to gentle classical music.
Flower Arranging
The ladies and some gents on all communities enjoyed an afternoon of flower arranging, it was agreed by all that the vibrant flowers brightened up a dull January day and gave a promise of Spring.
Love on a Harp String
Love was very much in the air on the eve of Valentine’s Day with an evening visit from Welsh Harpist Nerys, a Cheshire Grange favourite. Ladies and gents from all communities along with staff gathered in the lounge to be mesmerised by the gentle sounds of the harp,. Tunes that brought a tear the eye included Lara’s Theme from Doctor Zhivago and Moon River along with some traditional Welsh music too.
Wedding Bells
On a wet blustery morning some of our ladies put on their glad rags to make a trip to church to see Hannah, our Head Of Nursing, say I do. It was unanimously decided that Hannah looked like a princess marrying her dashing prince.
Christmas Festivities
There was plenty of glorious food to enjoy, during the festivities. The kitchen delivered an excellent Christmas Day dinner which was enjoyed by residents, families and staff at the festively set tables, as well as this we had three trips out, one joining the members of Hillcliffe Baptist Church for their community Christmas lunch and then two trips for lunch at The Statham Lodge Hotel with family members joining us for a bite to eat and a little bit of festive cheer.
On Christmas Eve, at our Night Before Christmas celebration we all enjoyed the Christmas cake that Richard our chef had made and the residents had decorated earlier in the month and there was no shortage of spiced shortbread and mince pies over the holiday period.
