Activities at Cheshire Grange Care Home

The activities team are constantly striving to meet the varied needs of everyone who lives in our home, offering a wide range of group and individual social events. There are regular visits from entertainers, along with craft activities, baking, games & puzzle days and pampering sessions, which fill the week. However, we can always find time for outings and just spending that little bit of special time with residents who enjoy the peace and quiet. We aim to bring the activities to the individual, whilst making it a whole home experience.

Jo Eland

Activities Coordinator

After originally starting at Cheshire Grange in May 2015, I'm delighted to be back in the role of Activities Coordinator. It is a privilege to be in this role and spend time, getting to know our ladies and gentleman and their loved one, whilst doing all the fun things that can make such a difference to their days.

The Magic Table

We are delighted to announce that we have just had a Magic Table installed, which is an interactive light projector, designed to support residents living with dementia by keeping them engaged through specialised games.

The light projections respond to hand and arm movement, allowing residents to stay stimulated and, most of all, have fun!

You can read more about it on this page.

Cupcake Day

To celebrate Alzheimer's  National Cupcake Day we had our very own bake off competition with residents. We decorated cakes together with families and friends and brought in entries for the final round of the competition. Lots of cakes were 'tested' and a winner declared.

Living La Dolce Vita

Living La Dolce Vita

We had a day of all things Italian, inspired by Venetian masquerade balls. Residents made colourful Venetian-style masks and decorated bottles with decoupage and lace to be used as table centres for the Italian-themed meals.

Whilst enjoying the afternoon sun, we learnt some simple Italian phrases and listened to a variety of music, including Dean Martin, Pavarotti, Verdi and Andrea Bocelli, to mention just a few.

Fruit & Fizz

Fruit & Fizz

Residents were delighted to share a 'Fruit and Fizz' afternoon with friends and visitors. Chilled Prosecco with a selection of soft fruits were on offer, including strawberries, melons, kiwi fruit and pears, which made for a pleasant change and got the conversation flowing, mainly about the quality of out of season strawberries!

St Patrick's Day Entertainment

St Patrick's Day Entertainment

Irish eyes were smiling and so were those of the ladies & gents at Cheshire Grange when Deborah from Musical Delights came to entertain us with an Irish-themed repertoire. There was much singing, clapping, foot stomping and some impromptu dancing too, as the audience got into the spirit of the occasion.

Memory Lane residents enjoyed an afternoon preparing for our St Patrick's Day celebrations by creating some themed artwork.
