Activities at Chester Court Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinator is dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Our aim is to make sure that our residents feel they had something to look forward to each day. We have a varied life enrichment programme, both in the home and in the community, and we always ask if there is anything different that residents would like to do. Residents and families approach our Activities Coordinator and comment on how much they enjoy what we do, so that we can continue to develop our programme to the benefit of our residents.
Lauren Corbett
Hi, my name is Lauren and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Chester Court. I joined the team in December 2020 and bring a wealth of enthusiasm to the role. I have just graduated from university in July 2020 and have previously completed work experience at another Barchester home. During this work experience I discovered how meaningful and important activities are for residents and how they can help enhance resident’s lives. Therefore, I decided to become an activities coordinator myself as I feel this is such a rewarding role.
I love working with our Residents here at the home and getting to know them and their families so that I can deliver and support in meaningful activities, keeping them socially stimulated and active as part of our extensive life enrichment calendar. The lifestyle and continued community links are also important.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Chester Court Care Home
A trip to Hexham Abbey
We love our trips out and recently enjoyed a spiritual afternoon with one of our residents at Hexham Abbey. Resident, Eliza spent time in prayer with the lovely Frank who assisted us with lighting candles for someone in our thoughts.
Frank then wrote a prayer on the prayer board for Eliza which was wonderful for her knowing her faith was being acknowledged. Thank you again Frank for joining us on our trip.
20-years long service celebrated
Congratulations Ann, our Home Administrator here at Chester Court. Ann marks her 20 Years of service today and was congratulated by all of her colleagues with a voucher, flowers and pin badge to mark the service. Ann is a well-respected member of staff, not only by her colleagues but by the residents themselves and their families, she will go above and beyond to help anyone she can.
Some Mother's do Ave Em
Residents across our services had a fantastic time enjoying the virtual screening of Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em. Frank Spencer’s comical misadventures had everyone laughing and it was wonderful to see so many happy faces.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and a special thanks to The Barn Theatre in the Cotswolds for bringing this stage adaptation of the beloved sitcom to our screens.
Belsay Hall & Gardens
We had a great afternoon at Belsay Gardens and Hall. We went for the ‘Belsay at War’ event where we were able to explore an array of memorabilia from wartime re-enactments of the mess tents, the artillery core, doctors and nurses who had to treat all British and German soldiers alike…
We then listened to a fabulous historian of relay the roles of the Special Operations Executives. It was a fascinating half hour talk about how these men and women participated in the war effort. The bravery was second to none. Great fun and an eye opener too. Thanks, you to English Heritage for organising.
A walk on the wild side
We had the pleasure of Discovery Zoo visiting us… we walked with Tortoises, lizards and Snakes. It was a day filled with love for the cold-blooded species. Who would have thought I’d befriend a rather beautiful snake? Thank you, Paul and Angela, for organising. Fab day.
Cornish Seal Sanctuary
A big thank you to the Cornish Seal Sanctuary for the fantastic live virtual event today!
Residents across our services loved seeing the seals up close and learning about the incredible work the sanctuary does to protect them and other wildlife in Cornwall as well.
Everyone truly enjoyed the experience.
