Activities at Claremont Parkway Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Elain Carey

Acting Activities Coordinator

Hi. My name is Elain and I help to deliver the daily programme of activities and entertainment and celebrations - there is always a birthday to celebrate! I like to see residents making friends and chatting with each other. I have a background in dance, music and acting, and I am also a qualified Zumba instructor, so I love it when we have entertainers in the home. We also have regular visits by therapy pets which residents find very relaxing.

Life at Claremont Parkway Care Home

Hopes and dreams

On Martin Luther King Jnr Day we talked about our past and present hopes and dreams. It was a fun session at Claremont Parkway as we used an adapted game of Snakes and Ladders prompt us with questions, and throwing our giant dice gave us a little exercise, too.

A brass band in the garden

We had a lovely treat here Claremont Parkway. The family of one of our residents joined us with his band in the garden. They played Christmas carols for us all to enjoy and sing along with. We all loved it.

Making cards for our families

Christmas brings out our creative sides and we spent an afternoon making cards to send to family and friends with Elain from our Activities Team. We listened to Christmas songs on the radio while we were crafting and chatted about what we look forward to most at this time of year.

Armchair travel to France

At Claremont Parkway we enjoyed some armchair Travel to France. We had a themed dining experience, thanks to our Chef and kitchen team. We also learned about the history and culture of France and saw some of its iconic buildings.

Making our Christmas wreath

We had a very fun afternoon at Claremont Parkway enjoying a live virtual event with Blooming Haus. Michal one of their amazing florists showed us how to make a beautiful Christmas wreath. We had a go at making our own and are very pleased with the result. We had so much fun we are going to make individual ones for residents’ rooms.

Remembrance Day at Claremont Parkway

At Claremont Parkway we marked Remembrance Sunday by watching the service at The Cenotaph in the morning. Then in the afternoon we enjoyed a lovely performance from 10-year-old Ella, our Head of Housekeeping Becca’s daughter. Ella sang favourites by The Andrews Sisters, including Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy. We all loved her loved her performance and joined in, and asked for an encore. We thanked her with some sweets presented by resident Catherine.
