Activities at Collingtree Park Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as they can, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.

Activities Coordinator

Martin Tilly-Reed

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Martin, I'm the activities coordinator here at Collingtree Park

My role is to ensure that our activities, outings and the entertainment we provide is stimulating and inclusive of all our residents no matter their challenges. It is important to me that our weekly calendar offers enriching experiences with music from live entertainers, visits to various locations outside the home, as well as arts and crafts tailored to individual abilities.

Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular family and friends’ meetings we can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining Collingtree Park that will make for a richer activities program to be developed.

I look forward to getting to know you, and your loved ones.

We are always open to new ideas. If you would like to get involved in any of our Life Enrichment activities or have a skill, or project you'd like to share with our residents, please click here  to contact the activities team direct. New entertainers and community links are always welcome.

Life at Collingtree Park Care Home

Guy Fawkes Night

Guy Fawkes Night

Collingtree Park Guy Fawkes wouldn’t be complete without our own ‘Penny for the Guy’ made by our creative activity team. The residents giggled at our guy which we named Simon! During the day we did some firework painting which the residents enjoyed  followed by a November the 5th quiz to test of our history knowledge! We shared old pictures and reminisced about how we used to celebrate Guy Fawkes when we was younger and finished up with a sing song about guy.

Halloween

Halloween

Residents, staff and relatives had a fun filled Halloween party here at Collingtree Park. We played spooky games which included witches golf, Pumpkins splat and pass the ‘Creepy’ parcel. Our kitchen team made a homemade spooky cake which was enjoyed thoroughly.

Flower Arranging

Flower Arranging

Here at Collingtree Park we had a delicious afternoon cream tea, with home-made scones and clotted cream made by our very keen bakers - our residents! Prior to this event we thought we would dress the tables for the occasion, and what better way to do this then with some decorative flowers. Many of our residents used to be very involved with their local community’s which included flower arranging for their local church. The residents loved arranging and sharing the names of the different flowers. We all thoroughly enjoyed our cream tea whilst looking upon the beautiful flowers.

Remembrance Sunday

Remembrance Sunday

Remembrance Sunday is such an important day and we were very lucky to have our friends from St Giles Church join us for a lovely remembrance service. All of our residents were moved by the service and paid their respect by laying their own poppy wreath followed by a two minute silence. Our Activities Coordinator wanted to make an extra special display and created a beautiful dress with individually cut out poppies. It truly was a morning to be remembered.

DIY

DIY

Our Gentleman here at Collingtree Park all love to help out around the home, and never pass on the opportunity to do some DIY! This week we jazzed up a wooden dresser with some new knobs. Our residents loved getting stuck in and showing our maintenance man Simon how it’s done!

World Animal Day

World Animal Day

The Residents of Collingtree Park celebrated World Animal Day with a lovely visit from Animal Edutainment. Walter, Animal Edutaiment’s main ranger who is a keen animal lover brought along a variety of animals and provided an exciting handling workshop. Our activities Coordinator specifically choice a variety of animals that would provide the most stimulation for our residents. The animals that came to visit Collingtree Park included a Chinchilla, African Pygmy Hedgehog, Corn Snake, Herman’s Tortoise, Netherland Dward Rabbit, Lesser Tnerec, Tiger Salamander, Reticulated, Gargoyle Gecko and Australian Water Dragon. Our residents were fearless and did not hesitate to hold and touch the animals, one of our residents even said ‘If I kiss the frog will it turn into a prince’ which we all had a good giggle about. We are hoping Walter and the animals from Animal Edutainment will visit us again soon!
