Activities at Collingtree Park Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as they can, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.

Activities Coordinator

Lucia Pivetta

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Lucia and I'm one of the Activities Coordinators here at Collingtree Park care home. My role is to enrich the lives of our residents by providing stimulating and person-centred activities. We offer something for everyone, including arts and crafts, games and live entertainment including visits to places of interest in the local area. I love to provide one-to-one time and sensory activities with residents who need a little more support.

Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular meetings with family and friends I can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining the Collingtree Park community.

We are always open to new ideas. If you would like to get involved in any of our Life Enrichment activities or have a skill, or project you'd like to share with our residents, please click here to contact the activities team direct. New entertainers and community links are always welcome.

Parish Council Coffee Morning

Rosemary, Pam and Skye from Activities had a lovely morning with Collingtree Parish Council for their fortnightly coffee morning. We enjoyed talks about community plans for Collingtree Village, as well as upcoming events in our home. We were excited by the reintroduction of "Knit and Natter", though we were better at the nattering part! Pam said "The village hall is the perfect place for a dance class" so treated us to a lesson in the Waltz too!

Rosemary said "It was nice to go out and speak to interesting people. We had a laugh and I look forward to seeing everyone again".

Thank you to the parish council for having us, we will see you next time!

Home Bar brings Joy

Today we opened the doors to the Collingtree Bar on Daisy Lane, where residents enjoyed playing pool, sharing stories and serving drinks!

Andy, Gardener at Collingtree Park donated the pool table last month, and was so pleased that it came to good use! He said "It's great to see it being played on again, and even better to hear some of the stories from residents who used to play in the past!"

Carer, Jun, used to support his father's business in selling snooker tables, and enjoyed showing off to the residents and helping them perfect their shot. The residents have had a wonderful afternoon. Thank you Andy and Jun.

Happy Birthday 'Sheila'

Happy birthday to lovely Shelia, who celebrated her 99th birthday today! Shelia has had a wonderful day, celebrating with cards and gifts from her children, as well as a Collingtree cake, made by chef Jennifer.

Shelia said "I don't know what the secret to longevity is, but I must be doing something right". We're so glad you've enjoyed your day Shelia.

Day Trip and Cream Tea

A trip to Dobbies garden centre for new resident. Norma; 88 has come to Collingtree Park for respite care. She told us, that following a fall, she had not felt confident enough to go out. When she came to us, she told us the one thing she loved most was the coffee and good company.

With this information, we decided on a trip to Dobbies Garden Centre; where Norma enjoyed telling Skye all about her life, over her favourite coffee and a scone.

Norma said "I have had a great day going 'out-out' and can't wait for our next adventure".

Dating Advice for All

On Valentine's Day, we asked our residents the secret to their long, happy marriages. Today we have asked for "Dating Advice" from some of our residents, who were more than happy to share!

Robert said "If you're going on a date, you should always have chocolates, but depending on how the date goes depends on if you will be sharing them or not!". Meanwhile, Jean said the most important thing was to "Enjoy yourself".

We enjoyed sharing lots of funny stories, Barbara shared stories of her first dates with husband, Michael, and said, "If I had to start again now, I wouldn't bother with it!". Barrie told us he was very lucky to have found "the one" and said "When you know you know".

It's been lovely listening to our residents stories to celebrate Valentines Day.
