Activities at Collingtree Park Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as they can, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.

Activities Coordinator

Martin Tilly-Reed

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Martin, I'm the activities coordinator here at Collingtree Park

My role is to ensure that our activities, outings and the entertainment we provide is stimulating and inclusive of all our residents no matter their challenges. It is important to me that our weekly calendar offers enriching experiences with music from live entertainers, visits to various locations outside the home, as well as arts and crafts tailored to individual abilities.

Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular family and friends’ meetings we can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining Collingtree Park that will make for a richer activities program to be developed.

I look forward to getting to know you, and your loved ones.

We are always open to new ideas. If you would like to get involved in any of our Life Enrichment activities or have a skill, or project you'd like to share with our residents, please click here  to contact the activities team direct. New entertainers and community links are always welcome.

Weekly Word Games

It is important for our residents to keep their mind, body and souls active - so as well as physical exercise, we also offer 'brain training' too!

Residents had a record number of words this week - 121 words found within the word 'interrogation'. Let's see if we can beat that score next week!

Tea in the Garden with Friends

We have all enjoyed some sunshine this afternoon! Afternoon tea, spent reminiscing about summer holidays, gardening and our jobs around the home - a lot of residents grateful that they don't have to worry about that anymore! Happy Friday from everyone at Collingtree Park.

Maureen's Our First Winner of the Month

Kick starting our month with our carpet bowls champ for the week - Maureen!

The tensions were high, but Maureen swooped in for her prize. Carpet bowls is enjoyed by so many of our residents, we're looking forward to eventually setting up a team to play within our other local Barchester homes.

Sweet Puppy 'Rose' Visits

We loved having a visit from sweetheart Rose last week!

As you can see, residents enjoyed cuddles and kisses in the garden with the pup, Thelma didn't want her to go home. We are a pet-friendly care home and encourage visitors to bring friendly pets to our home, as our residents enjoy meeting your furry friends too.

The Resident Gardeners out in force!

A big thank you to Derek and Barrie for helping me tidy up the garden this week. Both Derek and Barrie said they were happy to help, and Barrie said it reminded him of sweeping his drive in his younger days, while Derek said he hoped he would catch a tan!

They both enjoyed a well-earned cup of tea and cake afterwards. Thank you gentlemen!

A Perfect Day for Puzzles

Derek, Pam and Eileen have all been busy putting puzzles together this week and we finally have a finished product!

Puzzles are a great way to engage and provide exercise in memory and are said to improve brain functions, especially short-term memory. What a beautiful picture.
