Activities at Collingtree Park Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as they can, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.

Activities Coordinator

Martin Tilly-Reed

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Martin, I'm the activities coordinator here at Collingtree Park

My role is to ensure that our activities, outings and the entertainment we provide is stimulating and inclusive of all our residents no matter their challenges. It is important to me that our weekly calendar offers enriching experiences with music from live entertainers, visits to various locations outside the home, as well as arts and crafts tailored to individual abilities.

Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular family and friends’ meetings we can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining Collingtree Park that will make for a richer activities program to be developed.

I look forward to getting to know you, and your loved ones.

We are always open to new ideas. If you would like to get involved in any of our Life Enrichment activities or have a skill, or project you'd like to share with our residents, please click here  to contact the activities team direct. New entertainers and community links are always welcome.

Happy Birthday 'Maureen'

Over the weekend Maureen celebrated her birthday with a Collingtree Cake and afternoon tea with her children. Maureen said "I couldn't believe the cake was for me, it was absolutely beautiful. It was such a treat for me and my children to share on my birthday, thank you".

World Friendship Day

Today we have been discussing the meaning of friendship; sharing memories of our friends, what it all means and how friendship "makes the world go round". Thank you to our wonderful residents for sharing their tales of friendship with me, and thanking each other for being wonderful friends too.

You can read about what everyone had to say by clicking through this album. Happy weekend from the friends at Collingtree Park!

Celebrating Cheesecake Day

Yesterday was World Cheesecake Day - so our residents celebrated during their baking club. We created our vanilla cheesecake and all enjoyed using the different decorations to make them beautiful.

Derek, Barrie and Jean all helped to decorate some cheesecake for our carer team too. Happy World Cheesecake Day everyone - we hope you celebrated accordingly!

Happy Birthday 'Doreen'

Happy birthday to Doreen, who was surprised by 4 generations of her family joining her today to celebrate being 91 years young. Doreen said she felt "very lucky" and was spoilt rotten by all the people that love her. Happy birthday from everyone at Collingtree Park too Doreen, enjoy your cake!

The Tale of Peter Rabbit

Today we celebrated the birthday of Beatrix Potter by reading the Tale of Peter Rabbit. Born Helen Beatrix Potter on the 28th July 1866 in Kensington, London, Beatrix Potter is famous for her timeless tales.

Our residents learnt about how Potter had sent a drawing of Peter Rabbit in a letter to her governess's son in 1893, and from that a story was born. In 1902, The Tale of Peter Rabbit was commercially published and here we are today - still enjoying it!

Our residents enjoyed reading along, and telling their own tales too.

Music and Movement on Daisy Lane!

Music can make us feel better, evoke positive memories and provide comfort – all of which can contribute to a positive sense of wellbeing for our residents. Our band enjoyed shaking our instruments to the likes of ABBA, The Foundations, and Tom Jones - and then enjoyed a cup of tea while sharing stories about all of their favourite songs to dance to 'back in the day'.

Singing and dancing is good for the soul!
