Activities at Collingtree Park Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as they can, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.

Activities Lead

My name is Sara, and I joined Collingtree Park Care Home because of my passion for activities and helping people enjoy meaningful experiences. I have worked in care for over 20 years, starting my career with the NHS, where I still work in hospitality.  I find great fulfilment in providing activities for our residents, seeing the smiles they bring, encouraging social interaction, and helping create happy moments that make a real difference to their daily lives.

Miss Balloonatron Brought Magic to Collingtree Park

Miss Balloonatron Brought Magic to Collingtree Park

What a completely fantastic afternoon of pure fun and laughter our residents shared with the absolutely amazing Miss Balloonatron! Our residents were thoroughly entertained throughout the entire event as she sang beautifully while simultaneously creating incredible, intricate balloon models.
There were bright smiles and joyful laughter all around the room as she masterfully crafted a giant balloon diamond ring, a beautiful bunch of colourful flowers, a realistic bicycle, and even a majestic royal crown! It was truly wonderful to see everyone enthusiastically joining in, laughing, and enjoying such a unique, interactive performance. A huge thank you to Miss Balloonatron for bringing so much immense joy, wonderful music, and vibrant creativity to our home. We absolutely cannot wait to welcome you back!

Spectacular Summer Garden Transformation

The grounds at Collingtree Park Care Home are officially in spectacular bloom, completely transformed by a wonderful collaborative effort. A dedicated group of our incredible residents enthusiastically rolled up their sleeves to help us fill our shared outdoor space with a vibrant variety of beautiful flowers.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed a lovely, sun-filled afternoon spent planting fresh soil, chatting happily about their favourite blossoms, and soaking in the crisp, refreshing air together. Thanks to their incredible hard work and green fingers, our back garden has truly come alive with brilliant pockets of colour and life.
The Stanwick Handbell Ringers Visit

The Stanwick Handbell Ringers Visit

In June we welcomed the wonderful Stanwick Handbell Ringers for a special performance for our residents.
The group shared lots of interesting information about the handbells, including how long they have been playing together and the history behind their performances. Some of our residents even had the opportunity to hold and examine the bells up close, which was a lovely experience.
The music sounded absolutely amazing, and all of our residents thoroughly enjoyed the performance. A huge thank you to the stanwick handbell ringers for such an entertaining and memorable afternoon.
Fun, laughter, and a little friendly competition at our care home!

Fun, laughter, and a little friendly competition at our care home!

From big bingo wins to intense Scrabble challenges, our wonderful residents always love taking part in activities that keep minds active and spirits high.
The excitement reaches a whole new level whenever we bring out the dominoes! It is fantastic to see everyone gathering around the tables, plotting their next moves, and sharing plenty of laughs. Whether matching up numbers or waiting for that final winning piece, the room is always absolutely buzzing with energy.
These regular games are more than just hobbies. They are the perfect way to spark great conversations, reminisce about old times, and create beautiful memories together.
We always look forward to seeing what the next friendly match brings!

National Tea Day celebration !

National Tea Day celebration !

National Tea Day here at Collingtree Park Care Home was a wonderfully warm and comforting celebration, filled with the simple joy of sharing cups of tea throughout the day. From the very first brew served in the morning to our relaxing afternoon tea gathering, the teapots were constantly in use, bringing people together in a cosy and cheerful atmosphere.

Residents and staff alike took great pleasure in enjoying their favourite blends. Some preferred a classic cup of tea with milk, while others opted for it black. A few chose healthier green tea options, and many delighted in the delicate aroma of Earl Grey. Each cup sparked conversation, laughter, and a sense of togetherness across the home.

The day was not just about the tea itself, but about the comfort and connection it brought to everyone involved. Smiles were shared, stories were told, and the simple act of sitting down with a warm drink created special moments for all.

It truly was a brilliant day—proving once again that everything feels better after a good brew.

At the beginning of July, the residents from Collingtree Park Care Home enjoyed a truly wonderful visit to Collingtree CE Primary School for a delicious roast chicken lunch alongside the local school children.
After finishing their lovely meal, everyone happily headed outside to the sunny playground area. The enthusiastic residents eagerly joined in the fun and laughter of outdoor play, instantly matching the children's bright energy. It was incredibly heartwarming to watch these different generations spending quality time together, sharing broad smiles, lively conversations, and creating special community memories.

Smiles, Dancing, and New Beginnings: Celebrating Our Fresh Look!

Smiles, Dancing, and New Beginnings: Celebrating Our Fresh Look!

We were absolutely delighted and incredibly proud to celebrate the official opening of our newly refurbished residential community early in May. To mark this special milestone, we were honoured to welcome a very special guest, our local MP Mike Reader for Northampton South, who joined us to cut the ribbon and officially commemorate the momentous occasion.
Following the formal proceedings, the lively celebrations continued well into the afternoon with some fantastic live entertainment. The room was absolutely buzzing with positive energy, bringing plenty of bright smiles, laughter, and even a bit of dancing from both our wonderful residents and our dedicated staff members!
It truly feels like the exciting start of something incredibly special for our community. We also want to extend a massive, heartfelt thank you to our exceptional catering team, who worked tirelessly to put on such a fantastic spread of delicious food for everyone to enjoy throughout the day.
Shopping Smiles at 103.

Shopping Smiles at 103.

A few days ago, our lovely resident Margaret enjoyed a wonderful 1:1 shopping trip!
At 103 years young, Margaret proves that a joy of shopping is ageless. She didn’t want to go just anywhere; she had her heart set on her absolute favourite, Marks and Spencer!
Margaret had such a fantastic time browsing the aisles with our activity coordinator, Sarah. From picking out new favourites to enjoying the classic M&S atmosphere, it was girly shopping at its very finest.
Seeing our residents’ faces light up as they continue to enjoy the little things they love is what makes these moments so meaningful for all of us here at Collingtree Park Care Home.
July Fitness Fun

July Fitness Fun

During this bright month of July, our amazing residents had a truly fantastic time during their lively fitness session, focusing closely on developing essential hand-eye coordination skills. These fun, engaging physical activities help greatly to improve coordination, mental concentration, and overall joint mobility while simultaneously bringing plenty of bright smiles and shared laughter directly to the room. It is always wonderful to see absolutely everyone getting fully involved, warmly encouraging one another, and thoroughly enjoying themselves together in a highly supportive group environment. We want to say a massive well done to all our brilliant residents for completing another exceptionally great, energetic morning workout session recently! Your incredible energy, stamina, and positive attitudes make these wonderful active exercises a total spectacular highlight for our entire care community.

Together, our residents and staff had a great time mooching around the beautiful displays. Afterwards, we treated ourselves to a nice cup of tea and a delicious bite to eat. It is always rewarding to take our residents out for fun adventures. Huge thanks to the wonderful Ashby House team for joining us!
