Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as they can, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.

My name is Sara, and I joined Collingtree Park Care Home because of my passion for activities and helping people enjoy meaningful experiences. I have worked in care for over 20 years, starting my career with the NHS, where I still work in hospitality. I find great fulfilment in providing activities for our residents, seeing the smiles they bring, encouraging social interaction, and helping create happy moments that make a real difference to their daily lives.

Celebrating life at Collingtree Park Care Home

Drumming up some exercise

Regular exercise is vital for maintaining residents' physical strength, cognitive function, and emotional well-being. Exercise , particularly routines that combine rhythm and coordination stimulate brain health.

This week our residents enjoyed a visit from Home Fit Vitality and not only enjoyed a workout but also had some drumming fun, creating a rhythm section second to none.

Exercise classes and routines are a regular feature of the weekly activities programme at Collingtree Park .

A Night at the Proms

One of the cornerstones of our life enrichment program is live musical entertainment. Resident involvement in choosing genres along with feedback after each performance means that we are able to constantly improve our activities calendar.

With a "Night at the Proms" theme show performed by Fiona Harrison our residents enjoyed an array of classics. Everyone joined in with smiles all around and hands clapping and feet tapping.

At Collingtree Park that's what we like to do - create memories, and ensure our residents are leading full enriched lives.

The Stanwick Handbell Ringers Visit

At Collingtree Park we support and encourage our residents to continue doing the things they love whilst also making new friends. We hold regular activities that help or residents use cognitive and motor skills to provide holistic benefits that enhance the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of residents

We welcomed the wonderful Stanwick Handbell Ringers for a special performance for our residents. The group shared lots of interesting information about the handbells, including how long they have been playing together and the history behind their performances. Some of our residents even had the opportunity to join in the ringing.

A wonderful Open Day!

The Open Day at Collingtree Park Care Home was a truly enjoyable and successful event. From the outset, guests were welcomed warmly by the team, helping to create a friendly and inclusive atmosphere. Throughout the day, there was a strong sense of positivity and togetherness, reflecting the values and dedication of our staff.

The event provided an excellent opportunity to showcase the home’s environment, facilities, and the high standard of care provided. Visitors were able to engage with staff, spend time with residents, and experience first-hand the supportive and welcoming culture within the home.

The management team would like to extend sincere thanks to all staff members for their hard work and commitment in organising such a successful day, and to everyone who attended and helped make the event so special.

Moving and smiling

Our residents regularly enjoy sessions with James from Homefit Vitality! These seated physical activity sessions give everyone the chance to stay active, engaged, and have fun together.

Keeping our residents active is very important to us, as it plays a key role in supporting their overall health and wellbeing. Sessions like these help promote mobility, boost mood, and encourage social interaction in a safe and enjoyable way.

Happy Birthday

Birthday celebrations are important. It's an opportunity to gather with loved ones, share stories, and make memories. Your birthday is a chance for your friends and family to show their appreciation for you, and to celebrate the unique qualities that make you who you are. At Collingtree Park we ensure every resident is able to feel extra special on their birthday.

We celebrated an extra special 103rd birthday and our resident enjoyed a homemade birthday cake, balloons, visits from friends and relatives and enjoyed a truly special day.

At Collingtree Park we celebrate birthdays not just as a mark of ageing another year but as a celebration of life, achievements, and personal growth.

Primary Pupils Bring Sunshine and Song to Collingtree Park

At Collingtree Park Care Home we know that intergenerational activity is hugely beneficial to all involved as it encourages communication and social skills. Intergenerational contact also helps to develop language and confidence through shared activities, as well as increasing confidence and self-esteem. Lastly it helps children to develop empathy, care and kindness, helping them to understand and talk more positively about ageing and older people.

Pupils from Collingtree CE Primary School came to sing for our delighted residents. They brought immense joy and their bright smiles warmed the Residents hearts. The pupils then joined our Residents for a well deserved lunch and thoroughly enjoyed engaging with the Residents of Collingtree Park.

This sort of activity is made possible through our close links with local schools, colleges and nurseries. Intergenerational activities are a cornerstone of our life enrichment program.

A Heartwarming Visit

In early June, we welcomed Blue from Little Hooves, Big Memories for a special visit. Residents and staff loved spending time with him. He brought smiles, laughter, and wonderful memories to everyone's day. Thank you to Little Hooves, Big Memories for such a lovely visit! We look forward to seeing Blue again soon. Therapeutic animal visits like this bring immense joy and comfort to our community, boosting well-being and sparking meaningful conversations among everyone here. It truly was a heartwarming highlight for our home.

National Tea Day celebration !

National Tea Day here at Collingtree Park Care Home was a wonderfully warm and comforting celebration, filled with the simple joy of sharing cups of tea throughout the day. From the very first brew served in the morning to our relaxing afternoon tea gathering, the teapots were constantly in use, bringing people together in a cosy and cheerful atmosphere.

Residents and staff alike took great pleasure in enjoying their favourite blends. Some preferred a classic cup of tea with milk, while others opted for it black. A few chose healthier green tea options, and many delighted in the delicate aroma of Earl Grey. Each cup sparked conversation, laughter, and a sense of togetherness across the home.

The day was not just about the tea itself, but about the comfort and connection it brought to everyone involved. Smiles were shared, stories were told, and the simple act of sitting down with a warm drink created special moments for all.

It truly was a brilliant day—proving once again that everything feels better after a good brew.

Spreading Easter Smiles with a Special Guest

This Easter at Collingtree Park Care Home, the atmosphere was filled with excitement and joy as residents enjoyed a delightful visit from the Easter Bunny, who brought smiles, laughter, and a touch of magic to everyone present.

The special guest spent time with residents, sharing warm hugs and friendly conversation. There were plenty of opportunities for photos, creating lovely memories that will be cherished by all. Residents thoroughly enjoyed the interaction, with many reminiscing about past Easter celebrations.

The visit created a wonderful sense of community and bringing everyone together. It was a heart-warming day full of smiles, laughter, and seasonal joy, truly capturing the spirit of Easter at Collingtree Park Care Home.

It's a funny Lawn

A favourite of the weekly activities planner is armchair bowling. It also gets very competitive and the team that wins gets to enjoy a slice of homemade cake and a cuppa, but everyone is always a winner.

A Trip to the Garden Centre

Regular outings are just one aspect of our life enrichment program and all the trips we take are at the request of the residents. Our monthly activities calendar boasts a range of outings and entertainment.

Our residents enjoyed a trip to the Northampton garden centre for a wonderful afternoon. Together, our residents and staff had a great time mooching around the beautiful displays. Afterwards all enjoyed a pick me up with a cup of tea and a delicious bite to eat. It is always rewarding to take our residents out for fun adventures.

By taking regular feedback and requests from our residents we can enhance our life enrichment program to suit the interests of the residents.

Smiles, Dancing, and New Beginnings: Celebrating Our Fresh Look!

We were absolutely delighted and incredibly proud to celebrate the official opening of our newly refurbished residential community early in May. To mark this special milestone, we were honoured to welcome a very special guest, our local MP Mike Reader for Northampton South, who joined us to cut the ribbon and officially commemorate the momentous occasion.

Following the formal proceedings, the lively celebrations continued well into the afternoon with some fantastic live entertainment. The room was absolutely buzzing with positive energy, bringing plenty of bright smiles, laughter, and even a bit of dancing from both our wonderful residents and our dedicated staff members!

It truly feels like the exciting start of something incredibly special for our community. We also want to extend a massive, heartfelt thank you to our exceptional catering team, who worked tirelessly to put on such a fantastic spread of delicious food for everyone to enjoy throughout the day.

Shopping Smiles at 103.

A few days ago, our lovely resident Margaret enjoyed a wonderful 1:1 shopping trip!

At 103 years young, Margaret proves that a joy of shopping is ageless. She didn’t want to go just anywhere; she had her heart set on her absolute favourite, Marks and Spencer!

Margaret had such a fantastic time browsing the aisles with our activity coordinator, Sarah. From picking out new favourites to enjoying the classic M&S atmosphere, it was girly shopping at its very finest.

Seeing our residents’ faces light up as they continue to enjoy the little things they love is what makes these moments so meaningful for all of us here at Collingtree Park Care Home.

A Little Less Conversation, A Little More Action!

We had a "hunka hunka" burning fun at Collingtree Park Care Home as we celebrated the birthday of the King himself—Elvis Presley!

For several of our residents, Elvis was their ultimate idol, and the highlights of the day were the many photo opportunities! Everyone loved getting the chance to strike a pose with the King of Rock 'n' Roll.

The celebrations started with a trip back in time to a 50s-style American Diner! Our Activities Lead, Martin, teamed up with Chef Tamara to serve a delicious themed lunch. We tucked into classic Hot Dogs, Burgers, and "proper" American Fries with plenty of mustard, followed by a decadent American Cheesecake for dessert.
