Activities at Collingtree Park Care Home
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as they can, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.
Martin Tilly-Reed
Hello, my name is Martin, I'm the activities coordinator here at Collingtree Park
My role is to ensure that our activities, outings and the entertainment we provide is stimulating and inclusive of all our residents no matter their challenges. It is important to me that our weekly calendar offers enriching experiences with music from live entertainers, visits to various locations outside the home, as well as arts and crafts tailored to individual abilities.
Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular family and friends’ meetings we can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining Collingtree Park that will make for a richer activities program to be developed.
I look forward to getting to know you, and your loved ones.
We are always open to new ideas. If you would like to get involved in any of our Life Enrichment activities or have a skill, or project you'd like to share with our residents, please click here to contact the activities team direct. New entertainers and community links are always welcome.

Life at Collingtree Park Care Home
Supporting the Community
Once again, our Memory Lane residents enjoyed a lovely morning at the Bee Hive Café, which is part of the Northgate Academy. The Bee Hive is based in Kingsthorpe Northampton, and the Café is run by young students aged 16—19 years with special educational needs. Our residents always feels relaxed by the warm welcome they receive from the students.
Birthday Celebrations
6th September in Collingtree Park was a very important day: our amazing resident, Joyce, turned 110 years young! This wonderful lady started her day at the hairdressers, before welcoming her family and friends to a birthday afternoon tea celebration.
Joyce opened her many cards and presents with her family and enjoyed a glass of champagne with her cake. Joyce had many birthday wishes from TV and radio celebrities, including Sara Cox, Ken Bruce, Ben Shepherd & Kate Garraway and, of course, her now regular birthday card from the Queen.
For a final tribute from her fellow residents, they released 110 bio-degradable balloons in her honour. Suffice to say, Joyce had an absolutely wonderful day!
Pride in our diversity
Collingtree Park care home joined with other Barchester homes in Northamptonshire to support Northampton Pride Festival last weekend. We had a stall promoting Barchester’s person-centred approach to meeting the diverse support needs of people in later life. It was a fun day on the Market Square with food, games, music and lots of colour.
Wild West Fun Day
What a great day our residents had, watching and joining in with the Diamond Cats Line Dancers performances, and the residents who did not get up to dance, were tapping their feet to the music.
The weather was fantastic, but unfortunately we did have a few of our residents who were drunk and disorderly, so sheriff K Hird stepped in to calm the some of our more rowdy residents down. For those who escaped, a ‘wanted’ poster was displayed to catch & arrest on site.
Trip Out
The residents all enjoyed a gentle walk to Green’s Restaurant on the golf course, where they all enjoyed a nice hot drink and cakes. They then presented Dawn the Hostess, with a box of chocolates & card to bid her a fond farewell after 20 years of service.
Parachute Fun
Our lovely placid ladies, ‘butter wouldn’t melt in their months’ and then, we started the game and boy, how we underestimated the residents. They were very competitive when it came to keeping the ball from coming off the parachute. There was so much laugher!
