Activities at Collingtree Park Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as they can, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.

Skye Summerton

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Skye and I'm the Activities Coordinator here at Collingtree Park care home. My role is to enrich the lives of our residents by providing stimulating and person-centred activities. We offer something for everyone, including arts and crafts, games and live entertainment including visits to places of interest in the local area. I love to provide one-to-one time and sensory activities with residents who need a little more support.

Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular meetings with family and friends I can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining the Collingtree Park community.

We are an animal friendly care home with a resident cat called 'Bella' and daily visits from our residents' family dogs. We understand the power of PET Therapy and welcome animals of all sizes from mini beasts to the quarterly Alpaca visits a local farm.

We are always open to new ideas. If you would like to get involved in any of our Life Enrichment activities or have a skill, or project you'd like to share with our residents, please click here to contact me direct. New entertainers and community links are always welcome.

Christmas Cake Competition

Christmas Cake Competition

Every year, Barchester has a Christmas cake competition, and all the Barchester homes take part. This year, we got our keen bakers together and Started decorating our Christmas cake; the residents loved making suggestions on how the finished cake should look and we had so many giggles while doing so. Margaret, from our Memory Lane community, loved making the snowmen and taking her time to ice on the eyes, whilsy Margret’s friends from the home enjoyed making snow balls and the Christmas tree! We think the cake looks amazing and the ladies did a great job. Let’s all keep our fingers crossed that we win. Watch this space!

Trip to MK Shopping Centre

Trip to MK Shopping Centre

We took a lovely trip to the MK shopping centre to see the beautiful Christmas display, and it was truly worth the visit. The stunning display included a merry-go-round, a train and igloos! We went shopping for Christmas cards and finished up with a yummy hot chocolate.

Rock 'n' Roll Tea Dance

Rock 'n' Roll Tea Dance

The residents at Collingtree Park love having a dance, so we took a trip to the Picturedrome for a tea dance - and oh what fun we had!

Tea Tasting

Tea Tasting

The ladies at Collingtree Park had an enjoyable morning of fruity tea tasting. We all took it in turns to pick a pot and guess what flavour tea we had in our pretty china cups. Some of the residents were surprised by how much they enjoyed the different flavoured tea and asked if we can have another tasting tea party again soon.
